The San Francisco-based acoustic ensemble performs a repertoire of original compositions with an emotionally charged sound that is difficult to classify yet instantly recognizable. The group’s international roots shine brightly in their music with members from Spain, Quebec, France, Brazil, and California and are deeply influenced by a wide range of musical traditions.

Barrio Manouche has been recognized for its surprise concerts, innovative style, complex technique, and its passion for musical improvisations.

With latest collaborations including French Flamenco dancer Fanny Ara, African sacred dance Brazilian dancer Emaye Ama Mizani, as well as Colombian singer Iván Rondón, Barrio Manouche plays what is perhaps the truest definition of World Music.

Barrio Manouche is taking their audience on a magical journey, with a unique fusion of cultures and musical backgrounds, an auditory and visual feast like no other.

Landing in San Francisco from different parts of the world, various characters got together for different motives and goals at the end of 2008 and became Makrú, a musical tool to express their points of view, ideals and support the causes they believe in, chasing equality and unifying people along the way while doing what they love.

With an acoustic flavor that mixes Rumba Flamenca, Ska, Reggae, Cumbia and other global beats, lyrics in Spanish and English that bring reality, fiction, hope, and joy Makrú sounds like smashing the earth and playing it on a record player.

DJ IZZY WISE - (SCROLL DOWN FOR CLICKABLE LINKS)

San Francisco based izzy*wise aka Isaac Weiser first started performing music in his Dad’s Klezmer band as a teenager. As the multi-instrumentalist began learning new instruments and collecting records, so came the influx of different styles and cultures of music. Having played in many bands performing reggae, afrobeat, funk, rock, hip-hop, klezmer, drum n bass, and Latin styles this versatile performer began producing his own music and djing in 2007. Combining his knowledge of multiple instruments, sound reinforcement, and his love of mixing music from different cultures, we now have the electro world dub mashup that is izzy*wise’s music.
