About Malcolm Purvis
Its all a bit of a crusade really.....the death of the songwriter ...the few pubs and clubs that put on music seem to be either karaoke nights or some old timer in the corner doing a Rolling Stones cover. The X-Factor generation has a lot to answer for.
I've been writing songs for yonks and grew up in Stockton-on-Tees and played in several rock bands (Dirty Boots,Haywire,Murmur) all playing original material. Unfortunately we're not all rock gods now living in California and I ended up in Acocks Green, Birmingham (easy mistake to make eh?).
Anyway I started writing songs again a couple of years ago and moved to Yorkshire and worked in a fruit-packing factory. Twas here I wrote the Girl on Line 14 about the Polish girls on the production line and generally fell in love with music again.
Recently I have started playing live again as a solo artist. There are some pretty good venues in York, Wakefield and Leeds in particular and some good people running these places.
Was great to go and play my stuff in Chicago recently and I continue playing new places, writing new songs and reinventing old stuff I wrote while in a band like South and Revealed.
Have a song on Spotify now, please give it a listen and share.
Cheers, Malcolm
