About Manoya
"HUndred Arms" is Manoya’s first solo LP containing songs she wrote – and kept secret – for years. The singles Rebirth and Shine received heavy rotation on national radio s Manoya was born as Enikő Hodosi in Gyula, the South-East corner of Hungary. She developed an interest in music at an early age – after taking piano lessons in primary school she learned to play guitar by herself and joined the local church choir where she also performed as a soloist. She began working with a vocal coach and studied classical voice mastering and opera during her grammar school years. After brief stints with local groups Ragdoll and The Fever she was invited to join the already widely popular band NEO in 2003 where she became one of the most charismatic frontwoman of her generation while releasing several successful studio albums, playing in 8 European countries and opening for bands like Duran Duran, Kasabian and Massive Attack. NEO was awarded Le Prix De La Jeunesse (Award of the Youth) at the 2004 Cannes International Film Festival for the soundtrack of the Hungarian cult movie Kontroll.
Parallel with her musical career Manoya got more and more interested in parapsychology, naturopathy, sound healing and yoga, which experiences became part of her music too. She met Tibor Lázár during the recording sessions of a song by the band Zagar in which Lázár played drums and soon found herself collaborating on Lázár’s first solo album My Rorschach, released in 2011 under the moniker Occam. The pair soon started working on Manoya’s first solo LP containing songs she wrote – and kept secret – for years. The singles Rebirth and Shine received heavy rotation on national radio stations and generated huge anticipation for the upcoming record. Backed by Lázár’s studio wizardry, Hundred Arms (released by Chameleon Records on 12/12/2012 and available in both physical and digital formats) sees Manoya’s uniquely delicate songwriting in full bloom while being smoothly melancholic and uplifting at the same time.
Manoya was nominated and won the Hungarian music award called ’Fonogram’ for ’Hundred Arms’ as the ’Best Alternative Album of the Year.’ She is currently rolling on with gigs, writing of new songs and is ready to head abroad with her –normally 6-piece- band.
