About Marakiel 11:11
With some classical training in my youth and then a large chunk of my life without recording anything, it's now time to get on with some unfinished business. My musical heroes are from the previous millennium, at one end of the spectrum icons such as Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre & Tomita, while at the other end, Yes (all versions of the band), Level 42, Supertramp, Rick Wakeman & The Art of Noise. ... read more

Hi there subscribers,
While I'm somewhat hammered with work and, well, life in general, my headspace hasn't been in a musically creative mode so in the meantime I'm uploading 3 more tracks, Puppet Maestro from Soliel's Garden, which ironically was a ballad before this version, and Ocean Skate and Funkster Lite (couldn't think of a better name but the bass line's the closest I'll ever get to funk) from my first album Walkaway. This album was written specifically for a man who wanted an album people could walk to for an hour or so utilising his 'walking poles' (just like skiing poles but with the bottom bit modified). I walk to the beat without the poles and it's just as invigorating. I hope you enjoy them and I'll do my best to record some new music when I can. Cheers and stay safe, Marakiel

Hi subscribers and listeners. Well 2017 has started with a couple of major obstacles so unfortunately two new tracks I've been writing are only half finished, but I will get there. Today I had to make a very unpleasant decision but one that will relieve a multitude of burden from mine and my family's life. For some reason it brought back a memory of a dear departed soulmate from many years ago, and he was the inspiration for the track Garukaan's Farewell. It's the longest piece I've written, another one where the main chord structure came in one take, and I wanted to make it both melancholic yet uplifting at the same time, but you can be the judge of that. I've always been hesitant to 'put it out there' but I believe he'd have wanted me to. Spryx on the other hand is just a jumpy little fun track. I hope you enjoy them and while I've just been asked to edit a documentary on the perennial Engelbert Humperdinck, I will endeavour to have some breaks so I can finish my own music. Stay well everyone and thank you so much for liking and listening. Cheers, Marakiel

Hi there subscribers, While still in the process of writing some new tracks I just wanted to upload another two personal favourites from Soliel's Garden. Zurial's Stomp was inspired by a hugely popular Australian pop/rock band from the 80's called The Machinations. I'm sure if you search Youtube you'll find some of their songs there, and Elariel's Lament, a somewhat melancholic track with the main theme written virtually in the first take. I love it when they just come out of nowhere. I hope you enjoy them; they're available from iTunes and (expired link) and as usual they're best heard under headphones or earbuds. Stay safe and thanks so much for your support. Cheers, Marakiel.

To ALL my subscribers and networkers, YOU. PEOPLE. ROCK! You've just helped push Another Horizon to No:1 on the Australian Electronica charts after two weeks in and No:8 on the Global Electronica charts. I'm humbled beyond words and you keep inspiring me to do more of what I've always considered to be my hobby. Thank you so much for listening, liking and sharing.
The album it appears on, Soliel's Garden has 10 new tracks, including the 4 you've probably heard on this site, and is now available for download at
(expired link)
and soon on iTunes, Spotify and a raft of others I've never heard of. I wish all of you and your families a safe and happy Xmas and New Year and I look forward to the new year with renewed enthusiasm and energy.
Stay safe and well,
Cheers,
Marakiel

Hi there subscribers and supporters, 2016 has been a roller-coaster on a few levels for me, as I'm sure other people have experienced the same, but there's light at the end of the tunnel and for once it's not an on-coming train! I'm looking forward to 2017 and writing more tracks, but before Christmas I wanted to get a new one uploaded, and that new one is called ANOTHER HORIZON, which feels very fitting in my current circumstances. It's the last track I'm including on my third album, Soliel's Garden, which will be available soon from (expired link), iTunes and others. Once again, thank you all for your support and comments - they truly have been one of the better highlights to this year for me. So please, put on your headphones, close your eyes and enjoy the ride to Another Horizon. And if I don't get the chance before Christmas, please enjoy the festive season and my best wishes to all of you for the New Year. Stay safe, Marakiel

To all my subscribers both new and old, thank you for your support. The last few weeks have been rather testing emotionally, with an aggravated home invasion and assault on my step-son. Thankfully he's okay and the police finally got the bastard but along with another legal dispute which I won't go into, you might guess my headspace hasn't been very creative. But now that things have settled down somewhat, I'm back writing new tracks, albeit in fits and bursts, so hopefully I'll have some newies up before Xmas. Until then, thank you so much for listening. Stay safe, Cheers, Marakiel.

Hi subscribers, Thanks so much for your support. I've just uploaded a new track, Soliel's Rapture, from a forthcoming album. While I consider it an instrumental power ballad, I feel its melody is both slightly haunting and majestic at the same time. It's a personal favourite for a couple of reasons but I hope you enjoy it too. Again, thanks so much for listening and stay safe. Cheers, Marakiel

It's only my second newsletter (I screwed up 15 days ago) but a huge thank you to all my subscribers. It really is a thrill to see people even just play my music let alone like it. Since my first newsletter I've uploaded a few more tracks, the most recent being Carnival Kaleidoscopic, with a slight remix on the original from Collido-scape. There's a video on Youtube for it (I used to direct and edit music videos in the 90's) and the principle was to video the local 'Hawkesbury Show' from a 6 year old's point of view. For my liking, the track was a perfect fit with all the visuals put into fast motion. All the other tracks are personal favourites, Bellosophy having another story behind it but that's for another day. Once again, thank you so much for listening and I look forward to recording more new tracks soon. Stay well everyone, cheers, Marakiel.

Hello subscribers,
Firstly, thank you so much for subscribing to me. I'm very new to this site and considering I'm a 'hobbyist musician' it's so heartening to realise other people enjoy it. I have just uploaded 2 more tracks from my Collido-scape album, which is also on iTunes, (along with a previous album called Walkaway). The two tracks, Gyro Rem and Angel Ocean are slight remixes of 2 tracks from the first album (learning as I go you might say), so please enjoy.
Again, thanks so much and hope you like them.
