Read moreIt will be out by December 15th the highly anticipated new album by Marcello Appignani entitled Angeli – Nuove apparizioni (Angels – New Apparitions, Ed. MEP – Music Ensemble Publishing). The CD, both physical and digital from January 12, 2024, is the ninth of the Italian composer and is released following a long gestation period, six years after the release of the previous album Solochitarra. The project involves a massive and varied use of musical instruments, from orchestra, choir, electronics and the collaboration of numerous and esteemed soloists called to the recording of winds, strings and harp. It all comes from a reworking of the composition Angeli (Angels) written by the Maestro exactly twenty years ago for a collective exhibition of contemporary visual art. It is no coincidence that 13 painters are part of the project and included in the CD booklet for as many works inspired by the new album. On the cover, the work Il Messaggero painted specifically by Maestro Osvaldo Sabene.
The album, in addition to the revised and re-recorded 2003 music, includes four new tracks featuring the archangels: Gabriel and his grace, Michael and his energy, Raphael and his intensity, Uriel and his light. These pieces were written for trio with Marcello Appignani on guitar and keyboards, Giuliana Elena Jurado Bonomi on violin and Maria Sofia Rinaldi on cello.

As organist, pianist and guitarist he has taken part to a lot of concerts, playing his own repertory in several italian places.
His production includes many pieces composed for theatrical works, documentaries, CD-Rom, exhibitions, films and short films among which "L'attesa" ("The waiting") of Giuseppe La Rosa. This short film has been finalist in the Giffoni Film Festival 2004, in the Next Generation of Miami 2004 and in the 45° Film Festival of Krakow. Between films works, "Riturnella" of Francesca Garcea, has received special mention at the 61st edition of the International Film Festival of Salerno.
He has written reviews for magazines "Fare Musica" and "Music File Magazine". His composition for piano "Leda and the Swan" is still among the most scores downloaded from (expired link).
