Still Hope. Marion Drexler

What a beautiful song. As always your voice suits the wonderful song you have written. Your instrumental is always good with great solo's and great arrangments. I like your lyrics and the soulful nature of your music. I will always give you five stars as I have become a bit of a fan. Mainly because the quality of your songs and music is up there and I look forward to your next tune. Thanks for your music. 'Never give up, never surrender" x H

I have aroused your piece several times with eyes closed and beyond the fact that it calmed me, it has reassured me but also made me travel with the imagination. I saw hills, streams, sun, green fields and free horses running. I felt the scent of freedom in its pure state, I smelled music of joy and I empathized with the melody. beautiful emotion and beautiful song. good job

Gorgeous Vocals

Helpful

I love the vocals on this track - so warm and encompassing, like they're all around you. And I like the development of the arrangement as well, I like how it grows in the chorus, and how the electric guitar comes in afterwards. It feels very natural and right. And I love the tag line of 'There's Still Hope', and the background vocals behind it in the breakdown. The only thing I'd say is that it feels like there could be a touch less delay on the vocal - it feels like it's in a more cavernous area than the rest of the instruments. Really enjoyed this!! :)

Hi Hi :) Your sound is so warm! The guitars are ringing like a million dollars- truly beautiful! Personally, I don't like the mixing work- mostly on the vocals: I think the delay is a good add in certain chosen places, not all of the time. It can have a different placement where it is more together and in balance with the instruments. It's too much at the front for my taste. Good job!

The voice is excellent and characterful. Given that the vocal is strong the backing music is too quiet and so the build up towards the end of the track loses its presence. The lyrics are simple and predictable but done with a good tune.

Marion Drexler - a special singer

Helpful

In the previous review, I wrote down for Marion, wanting to add a note related to the control of long sounds. This is a very important feature of singing abilities - tonality of the voice, control of vibrato, dynamics - all of which create singing expression - I have not heard this feature, and I was hoping to review again and found this song that Marion expresses this ability. In this song, she does it: long notes in excellent intonation, control of subtle vibrato that suits the deep hue. I can even feel a beginning of Dynamic Control. It is not that I try to change her style, but hinting at more sounds options she potentially has. She has!

I really enjoyed this song. Although you have Roots, Country Pop, I also hear the lyrics with a faith based religious message. There are lots of us that write religious and secular music and there is nothing wrong with doing both. Just something to think about. You never know who will needs to hear your message, and find strength and hope from your song. Wishing you much success in your endeavors. I also appreciate when the instrumentation is kept to the minimum because it lets the lyrics stand out more. Excellent job of doing that also.

good music

Music is an art form and cultural activity whose medium is sound organized in time. The common elements of music are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics (loudness and softness), and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture (which are sometimes termed the "color" of a musical sound). Different styles or types of music may emphasize, de-emphasize or omit some of these elements. Music is performed with a vast range of instruments and vocal techniques ranging from singing to rapping; there are solely instrumental pieces, solely vocal pieces (such as songs without instrumental accompaniment) and pieces that combine singing and instruments. The word derives from Greek μουσική (mousike; "art of the Muses").[1] See glossary of musical terminology.

Excellent timing and beautiful guitar instrumentals. I do love the softness of your vocal track that is in contrast to the sadness of this song lyric. Very professional recording with a feel of pining and yearning for restoration. The Backup Vocalists are right on target for conveying the intensity of the emotions of this song. Not many songs can convey or inspire hope, however, you managed to do both in this one. It is a song that many in Christian circles will appreciate too with the reference to the Rainbow of Restoration. This song calls to my mind "Still The One" by Shania Twain. However, now that I think more deeply your voice is more akin in vocal talent to The Judds...in particular their song "Love Can Build A Bridge." Both Hope & Love are the most powerful forces of the universe, even more powerful in defeating the stronghold of death.

What a voice, you are incredible and just a natural. Some people force it, but you don't. Reminds me of Trisha Yearwood, really great and you give country hope! Thanks for recording this, love it!

Lovely , uplifting lyrics , sang with a heartfelt and strong voice, this song has been well produced and sounds like it should be blasting out of country music stations across the U.S and Canada! I love the extra backing vocals towards the end of the song- they almost bring and angelic quality to it! Wishing you much success!

Beautiful and epic song

Still hope. A beautiful voice, with great strength and feeling, for a sad and epic melody. Country rock and pop with excitement and commercial punch. A great value from the green lands of Canada. A huge pleasure.

Love her voice; Heart-tearing and honest...she could make you cry with every note. A song that I can understand each word sung; love the color of her Strat, too. Though the melody line is somewhat common, Marion uses it to her advantage, probably because it is as "heart-wrenching" as hell. Keep writing them like this!
