I love the narrative story of this song. It is a great instrumental too, with guitar on point and very enjoyable to listen to the song unfold. I like the great tone of the vocalist. Unique in every way. I think it would help listeners to re-record this song in a Wave file or whatever increases the ability for us to hear the words in the second verse & third verses. Otherwise, I find it to be really top notch instrumental. You have true talent and a unique singing voice Matt. Keep the songs coming!

Great song. Real manly voice with real guitar. Very good song, interesting lyrics, good production. Something I would listen at home any time. Keep the good work and I am sure you will make it

Very good song

All in a all a pretty damned good song with shades of Guns n Roses which is no bad thing.Nice arrangement, guitar work and melody so this song deserves to be high up in the charts. My only criticism would be that the chord progressions are a little cliched but it's very difficult to come up with new riffs that haven't ever been done before. I'd be interested to hear more of Matt's music that's for sure.

Straight and focused

A classic rock song with a rather calm verse and a mighty and powerful chorus. Hardly any unnecessary gimmicks, very straight and focused. Quite well recorded and produced, the typical tom-tom series of drum computers do not negatively show up here - done with taste I would say. No self-featuring but annoying solo parts in here as well. Quite compact nd meaningful. The only thing I personally miss is harmony vocals, the chorus could have needed one or two (female?) more voices.

modern and raw

Your sound is modern yet raw and I love the overall feel of this song very good away above average must listen to more of your material .a great balance and mix...could perhaps benefit from harmonies on the hooks and choruses

A spaghetti western this is not...

Matt Cressey brings us Outside the lines, a power ballad that goes far beyond the concept of his Alternative Trip Hop and Acoustic Rock listings... The song has a great deal of power and energy, but there are a couple missing aspects. From a producers standpoint the instrumentation is pretty darn good, but the mixing could have helped with the dynamics and energy and passion with just a touch of reverb on the drum tracks to give it that certain darkness a power ballad needs. A half point off for that and another one half of a point lost for no guitar solo.

What's with the vibrato on the voice? The vocals are nice but the wobbly intonation are distracting. I like the song and it's fun with the slow build up to the main part of the song. I like the strong use of the drums and guitars - real rock and roll. This sounds like it was mixed and mastered well during production - which, strange as it sounds, doesn't happen as often as you'd expect.
