Hello Musicmakers,
We have almost escaped winter, but not so fast. Are you still trudging through the snow? Or puddles? Or just plain chilly? For some, it's a great time to snuggle indoors with a mug of coffee and a cat purring in your lap. Since we are creatives, there is a bonus to being shut-in; less time running around and being distracted by scantily clad sunners, or outdoor cafe retreats... this is inspiration time.
Some of my best (in my opinion) poetry and song were created in solitude. Sitting quietly peering out at cumulus clouds from an airplane window, or right before closing my eyes before bedtime (not a favorite time for me). Instead of numbing your brain and forfeiting your time with video games or reality TV, engage with yourself. Yesterday, I played some nature sounds music, my favorite is the ocean surf or gurgling streams. You can hunt some down from Youtube to test out your attraction or discomfort with this kind of soothing sounds. What better way to get through a dreary, gray day than hearing the ocean's tide and seagulls singing to each other? If you meditate, you are truly transported to a sun drenched sand and waves.
Winter for me this last year and now, has been about writing two new Christmas songs and learning how to speak Korean. Enjoy this verdant time for creating in peace, spring is coming to wherever you are, soon.
With much love and musical wishes,
Melody
