About Michael Lion
Michael Lion, singer song writer, Rasta Man, born in Bristol, raised up in Watford, lived in London, Luton, St Albans, and Leeds. I am now I am on a mission in Newcastle, and have been living here at least 15 years. I was sent on a true mission to represent black people in the North East, and that’s a fact. I thought I would do something more in my mission than just live, so seven years ago I formed Michael Lion. I write and sing about roots and culture, and the truth. The truth matters and it hurts. I know that people have been brought up differently to the way I was brought up. I & I am Rasta, and that’s hard to be Rasta in the UK, not impossible though! For some people they would do anything for money, which is not my priority. Are we all institutionalised, and are we living in a mad asylum? We should all do something about it if we can. No matter what, everyday we all got problems, and it appears to be worsening. It’s getting bit closeted right now, and its because of the times we live in. I see more and more of people's persuasions everyday, and more clearly too, don't need any specs either! Some people are institutionalised but not racist, they appear normal or not, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions, so I rule my destiny then, and I Rasta! When it comes to educational attainment I have nearly reached the top of the ladder. I am now living the dream with something to prove. Yes, I am a black Rasta Man!
There has been many, many a poor decision regarding the black man. From the age of 16 I learnt we black people have to fight hard. Holding the black man down is a disappointing fact of the disheartening old guard. The imperialists that are left are depressing me right now. I know we Rasta have to change how people feel for the better. It’s feels like in the UK Rasta have to fight hard day after day just to survive. If you are white you have better chances. Do some white people wish they were black? I have met some white friends before who wished they were black. Personally I want to be Rasta for life that's me right, no colour just born again! What does that mean? Most people wouldn't know, or will have a negative opinion, or am I talking crap? We are Jah Army - the Rasta man and the people who follow. Michael Lion is gonna bring love to the people, and sing about real roots and culture here in the North East.
I want to have good well being, and be happy, but something has gone very, very wrong. Who believes in racism and white power, imperialism and the rest of it? That’s the world we live in everyday here in the UK. What we gonna do about that? When’s the white Jesus coming? I am glad I am not gay and that is not a crime, and I am proud! I is Rasta I’ve said it before. I’m gonna change things. I got my human rights, and I can sing! Jah is my salvation for real. Do I have to feel sad, bad and grim? No! The dignity of myself, and how to keep it, is important for everybody to learn. Delusions of grandeur is so common up here. There is a battle to fight, and a battle to win, and some people don't care, and maybe some people do.
The degrees of separation, their cause and effect, the decisions we all make, they will take us to places we may not have even imagined before. I am on a path going forward regardless of anything that's in my way. My achievements and experience and my music are all going to be remembered. I know that because I have paid my dues, and I am going to pursue my dreams. What kind of people overstep the mark? Does it matter, if it does what can we do about it? Those who don't appreciate what is good, or the truth which is honourable and accepted by some or most of us, are fucked and stupid! Face it, are we are all good? We got to deal with it. We got to fight the negativity with positivity. I can't lie, it's weird living to see Donald Trump running for the Presidency of America, his views stink. These are the types of things we need to overcome. I feel like I have travelled back 50 years in time. That would make me two years old.
Michael Lion shows my self worth, my reason for being here, my conviction, my spirit, my love and my intentions. I will expose the people differing persuasions and those who are so unequivocally wrong, if not, what’s the point. I’m going through some abomination shit, and I have to be free to get out of this shit. Michael Lion has got something to say about it. My inspiration is JAH, and I give thanks everyday for my blessings everyday. I write about my life, what I see, my roots and my culture, and the things we all see everyday. I bare my soul in my music. I live and breath reggae music, so I hope you good people enjoy our sounds. I am emerging artist everyday, and I am also getting closer to realising my passion and fulfiling my true potential. I feel blessed to follow the great works of many legends including, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Burning Spear, Capleton, Chronnix, Lusiano, Jimi Hendrix and many, many other great messengers.
JAH Rastafari, guidance and blessings, peace and positive vibrations, Michael Lion
