About Michele Giuliani
Michele Giuliani , pianist and composer from Puglia (Italy), is defined eclectic musician and devoted to the mixture of styles. His conception of music travels through jazz to the african rhytmhes and ethnic music. His personal reading of tradition and improvisation, the deep conviction that making music is an act of spirituality and sharing, gives him the status of a performer and composer cross and “outside the box”.
Grown up artistically during his travels in Africa and several European capitals ( Berlin, Paris, Bruxells , Prague) Giuliani makes the professional and human exchange with artists from all over the world, his technical and expressive way of learning.
The last albums produced and published “ ESSENCE “ (2007) and “ ROOTS “ (2010) rank among the special interests the voice of Burkina Faso, Gabin Dabiré ,the ethiopian visual artist Enatalem D. Zeleke the brazilian traditional dancer Ana Estrela , cellist David Viterbo and the Afro-Cuban folklore ensemble Cabildo Blanco. He also collaborates regularly with the writer / singer Gabriella Italo- Ethiopian Ghermandi producing the album “ ATSE Tewodros “ (2013).
In Ethiopia, Addis Ababa, in 2013 He produces his new project recording the live concert in trio “ BEYOND THE COLOUR” with the singer and dancer Rossella Giovannelli and the extraordinary participation of the ethiopian traditional “kirar” player, Fasika Hailu (Radici Music records).
In 2014 He leads an ensemble of seven italian jazz musicians to record the album “Shosholoza – Mandela Special Project” (Digressione Music 2015). A project of which he is currently artistic director and composer.
In 2015 Giuliani starts a recording project to pay tribute to his inspiring African American jazz masters. He records a solo piano dedicated to Duke Ellington's music and He is currently working to achieve two other recordings dedicated to Thelonious Monk and Randy Weston in a sort of trilogy called "The Long Way Down To The Roots”.
In 2016 He is again at work to record the second album of the Italian-ethiopian world music project “Beyond the Colour”. A work that combines all the travel experiences of three artists around the world.
