Hold Tight!

Really rockin tune, nice guitar melodies and counter melodies. I didn't even notice that there were no vocals to this track, because it sucked me in so quick and took me for a ride. Quite slick how all the layers pile up in the end and oh do they work so well together! Very Classy, I am sure this will do will in advertising or possibly gaming. Maybe your next track should be about Phantom or Space Ghost!

Mike Harty - Before Bond...There was Dick Tracy

Upon my very first listen to "Before Bond... There was Dick Tracy", I found myself immediately reminded of Joe Satriani's "Surfing With The Alien", i.e. the drive and soul of the great surf music from years gone by (Dick Dale, etc) but with modern punch and production values. The guitar playing and composition is exceptional, and I very much look forward to hearing more by this fine artist!

Dick Tracy

You have it spot on! Dick Tracy is a 1931 (original) American comic strip featuring Dick Tracy, a tough and intelligent police detective. It was distributed by the Chicago Tribune New York News Syndicate. Dick Tracy has also been the hero in a number of films, notably one in which Warren Beatty played the crime fighter in 1990. Writer Tom De Haven praised Gould's Dick Tracy as a "A weird, demented, and outrageously funny American Gothic". Dick Tracy can be described as a "ghoulishly entertaining creation" which had "gripping stories filled with violence and pathos". Mike Harty's tune, (Before Bond... There was Dick Tracy!) hits it on the nailhead, with the churning guitar licks and emotional inversions. It is like he puts you into the cartoon as a viable character. Keep it up and play that Les Paul like it is meant to be played! I will listen to your other tunes and give comments!

Very Impressed

I don't know if this is original, or a cover tune. Either way, I love the way it goes, and the Guitar is great. I realize some of the music is from Bond movies etc... Even the background music is awesome. I usually don't give out 5 Stars, but this one is actually worth listening too. I can so hear this being used in a movie. Just the Guitar alone was way cool. Best wishes. Edward Westbrook (Atomic Energy Society)

well hello Dick dale

Helpful

the first 5seconds of the song is like an intro made by harem scarem, but then the likeness stops. I like the mix of the song and the many small elements blending Dick Dale,(sort of), with the classic Bond theme and a lot of fun stuff...it`s a very cool and happy listening song...keep it up..!!

Sweet and Groovy!

Man, I love that sound! Very cool guitar riff! Reminiscent of some 60s stuff meets James Bond meets surf music. I like the stops and the imagery this portrays. I can imagine this being performed live on stage as well with the guitars playing off each other. And the fact that it's short and sweet makes it all the more appealing. Not too many people write those short and sweet songs anymore. I could also see the Blue Brothers pulling this one out with the horns and Paul directing with some sweet Hammond organ in it. Fun song! Thanks for the music Mike!

Get your Spy On!

Really amazing sound alike of the very world famous theme from the James Bond movie series! Mike delays the quote of the chromatic theme until about 70% through the song so when you finally do hear it, it's like an aha moment! The chord progressions are solid and the vibe is upbeat with excellent balance of the band instruments, drums and lead guitar. This track could easily be heard in film, tv or video game settings and I look forward to seeing that happen in the future!

energy

yes I like your music, you have a spectacular groove and the james bond chord tour like you did it is simply spectacular. your way to play the guitar is very particular and frankly a bit I envy you because even if I try to play the guitar with virtual instruments, it's never like playing a real guitar. your music is pure energy

Before Bond... There was Dick Tracy! - Review

Thank you for asking me to review your music, It definitely has a lot of energy and drive. Great percussion and lead guitar lead. There is a nice touch of the James Bond theme. There is a number of nice rolling effects and counter melodies which keeps it interesting. There is a little bit of Jazz effect for a nice touch at the end. .I would imagine that Dick Tracy would have liked nice head to head with James Bond. Nicely done. All the Best!

One of the things I enjoy about Number One Music is the range of musicians and artists I'll get to enjoy that I'd otherwise never hear of on mainstream pop radio. This is a great example of a fun song that just kicks it. From the guitar licks, to the sinister "bond" flavor, this is a great song to jam to while working out. How this classifies as Christian Rock is beyond me, but that's what it shows here.

Un poco de Guitarra!!!! Electrica. Con sentido estetico parecido alrock sinfónico de los 70. Some touch of Electrical Guitars and Hammon organs. I sis a sound as if were 60!! Is a mix of old melodyes as if you were in te tunel of the time.

Good tune!

i think its a good tune. I dont hear the bass though and the drums would sound better if an actual drummer played in the song. the song is catchy and have a soundtrack taste, great for bond 007 alike movies, for synchronization. You should include the song in music libraries, you never know, todays algorythms are awesome. you might score a deal. I like the feel of the song, the mood, is a good up beat song, great for feel-good moments! Maybe i find the song short for this genre and i would like a more definite solo. Good luc!

well played

Initially, I'm struck by the Mission Impossible-homage, which is pretty cool. Nice ghostly sounds from the organ adds a groovy vibe to the tune in the in-betweens. A nice tribute/interpretation, well played and consciously performed. A bit 80's in a way but still good.
