well-arranged 80s rock music with meaningful lyrics
"Marilou" by Mike Harty is a well-played 80s rock track that showcases a good arrangement and smooth vocals. The song's production quality is ok and reminiscent of bands like Yes, with its polished sound and intricate musical layers. However, the soft and gentle vocal delivery might feel somewhat out of place for some listeners who expect a more robust rock voice in this genre. The lyrics tell a compelling story of Marilou, a character struggling with inner turmoil and searching for redemption. The verses paint a vivid picture of her emotional journey, while the chorus and bridge offer a hopeful message of finding a better way through faith. The narrative is engaging and relatable, making the song resonate on a deeper level. Overall, "Marilou" is a thoughtfully crafted song that blends classic rock elements with a poignant storyline. While the vocal style may not align perfectly with traditional 80s rock expectations, it adds a unique touch that sets the song apart. If you're a fan of well-arranged rock music with meaningful lyrics, "Marilou" is worth a listen.

Nice well written and produced hard driving song
Hery Mike, the song and prodiction reminds me of great bands from the 70's. The instruments are separated nicely and nothing is lost even with all of the various guiyar parts. The bas and drums stand out but don't overwhelm the guitars or vocals. Very nice guitar along with the vocal on "real" (you know my love is real). The guitar solo really stands out on the right side....nice work and the harmoies and vocals themselves are in perfect pitch and nicely situated. Overall an excellent song. Keep up the good work.

One of my Favorites
Mike's music draws me back to the 80"s (which is a very happy place for me). Good musicianship and good ideas in the song make it a worthwhile listen. Please take the time to listen to Mike's work.

Nice solo in the beginning!
The song has a prog atmosphere. The vocals are melodic and the melodic line flows well. The refrain is catchy and at the middle of the song there is a beautiful change. The song in general has a power that's been shown by the instruments but as I said before has prog and a radio friendly colour as well. The guitar work is remarkable and the end of the song, the track closes beautifully.

Good Melodies
Hello Mike, I would like to say that the whole sound is not very good for me and I think it would be beneficial to work on it a little more. Other than that, your music is beautifully arranged.

Great instrumental intro. When the vocals come in it makes the song much more commercial. Nice melody vocal line and the Chorus really works. I like the like the bass plays on the Bridge and the chorus hook. Good Job.

Pleasent Sound
I always like to mention how much I love the fact that you are spreading the word through the music. Some of us are given the task as our purpose. We are truly blessed. I am thinking that Styx is a big influence for you. It definitely has that sound which is not easy to do. The sound is big. Also like the guitar sound. The only thing stopping me from giving you 5 stars is the vocals and you might think about making it a little shorter. Just one mans opinion.

Rush meets Yes!
I really like the ideas in this song! Although the mix and overall sound is a little less than pro and a little overboard on the chorus effects. The guitar playing is very good and the message is also worth hearing. Having played with artists like Neal Morse, I can appreciate the effort and artistic talent wrapped up in this little diddy. Keep up the good work and read up on how to make your mixes better. This is a great song and I enjoyed listening. Blessings!

Good! Can become even better.
That's a lot of chorus! ;-) Love the outburst of guitars. Good playing there! Reminds me a little of the group Yes, with that Rickenbacker-like the sound of the bass guitar. The mix seems to me a bit tight/flat; maybe try to use more or stronger panning and give the drums a bit more oemph? Vocals are nice, but -so it seems- carefully and cautiously sung. If I were producing you I would ask you to have another go on the vocals, to get more punch, more strength into it. Having said all that (with all due respect) I think it's a very good song and arrangement. Strong, divers, well played guitar parts, but that could stand out even more/ Wish you lots of succes. regards, cheers, Ronn van Etten

Once again Mike you really get a nice sound going on here my brother. We need more good music especially with whats going on all over the world. I believe the Lord uses His musicians as he did in the Old Testament to bring peace and comfort to all those around in this time and place, and we all could use alot more of that my brother..............Keep on Rocking down the House and May the Lord bless you!

EXCELLENT. VERY GOOD SONG.
The same melody can be interpreted softly, melodiously, joyfully, raw, playful, and in many ways sung or played by an instrument. Think of a metal song, a children's song or a romantic song. Of course, this is not a purely compositional aspect, but we must take it into account as it influences notoriously. Thinking about how the melody should sound, even the timbre of it is a very important aspect. Very good song. My congratulations.

Great Christian Rock Song
Very tight melodic structure. Good harmonies. Great Lyrics. The throbbing guitars and the pulsating drums drive the song with a steady beat. The mix is excellent. The singer's voice is not drowned out by the rock music. Her voice is just right for this song. I really like the lyrics. The band reminds me of an old Christian band known as David and the Giants. I loved that band back at the beginning of Christian rock music in the 70s. Your band has a very true rock sound. Keep wring Christian rock. The world needs to hear it!

another great tune
Another of my favorites from Mike, great feel overall and the lyrics are really nice on this one. I enjoyed the guitar work and layering quite a bit, and I'll say it again I really wish there was more christian music done in the style of progressive rock/ prog. It lends so well to huge emotions and grand themes, with the right lyrics the feeling is incredible. My only complaint was the vocals werent' as clear in the mix as some other tracks but again one of my favorites!

Nice!
Nice guitar lead, I like the live sound and mix drums. A little bit of a classic mix showing you've done your homework on your art. More artist should study the roots of their culture of art to be better at their own art. Keep up the good work and stay in the lab creating new material to stay fresh and on your toes. If you're ever looking for a hip hop collaboration hit me up I'm versatile. Peace!
