A Review of 'Love Train Live In Newcastle'
Good Manly voice. A good example of acoustic tradition. If this is the entire song, so there is a lack of variations in it. This means there is not a clear cut division of A, B, or C section. Consequently, it makes the song with a repetitive and monotonous feel. The only hearable variation is a bridge section which could be considered as Chorus part. This voice deserves more works on the musical segments of this song.

Love Train
The first thing I ask myself is whether this is a live performance, as I experience this soundtrack as a recording taken directly from the mixing table during a concert, am I right? Anyway, very good and strong energy is performed well, with experienced interaction in the band. The good dynamics and pleasure of the performance can almost be felt. This naturally causes a dancing and very satisfied audience. It is all tied together, by a talented vocalist who clearly, with his outstanding, competent and comfortable voice, has sung for many years. You got me in a good mood guys, thanks. Good Content
In some ways, music is a lot like literature. It can be pleasing, enlightening, even life-changing. A great song, like a great book, affects the listener in unanticipated ways and resonates long after the music has ceased. And, if done well, both music and literature have a rhythm and tone unique to their authors; you wouldn't confuse a passage from a Charles Dickens novel with one fromaHarry Potterbook, nor would you mistake a verse from "A Hard Day's Night" for one from a Lady Gaga song. But how do you describe your favorite song? How do you put its melody into words or explain the beauty of its chords? How do you begin to describe the emotions that it provokes in you?As the maxim goes, "Writing about music is like dancing about architecture." In other words, despite the similarities between literature and music, conveying sound through text is a challenge, even for the most talented of writers

JUST BREATHE
Mike This is a very BAD idea doing a cover of the O-JAYS love train as you can never expect to do the song justice. This sounds like a second rate cabaret performer with a dud file player. The performance is dull and insipid. Sorry Mike

Very refreshing...
Very refreshing, but what a good voice like yours and a good band... It would be nice to hear some original material with a less studio down feel to it like a raw demo... you have that good some and feeling that can make it in this unpredictable music industry...

Nice remake
I really like this track! It's a nice remake! The delivery is executed wonderfully. It makes me want to get up and dance and that's what a song should do. You should feel better just from hearing it and I do. Great job to you and much success to you. Keep bringing great music!!

A feast to ears and feet!
It's a pleasure to review Mike's song. As usual, he has produced a wonderful singing, with a rich, well tuned voice. The song is around 1960s-70s style, this was a great time for music all over the world. I love the composition, the catchy beats able to stir any legs. There is a nice blend of percussion and guitar, with mix of synth, easy to listen.. and a feast to enjoy!!BW..

A Terrific Cover Version!
A great version of the classic O'Jays hit - "Love Train". If you did all the musicianship yourself (piano, drums, guitar, bass, synths), it is truly terrific! You have good vocals and they were reminiscent of Joe Longsthorne. I would have liked more harmonisation (I love my harmonies!) - as they would have added my "Oomph!" and soul - a few more Ad-Lib vocals would have been the icing on the cake too. I think you played the harmonies "too safe". I think you could have had a "nastier" funkier bass too (as bass work has come a long way since the 1970, and there was scope to "really go to town" on this a little more than you did. Again - you played this really "safe". I must confess, this is the first song on the site's Review Page that I have played several times over, as it is an all-time favourite of mine, and this is a great version. I am eagerly waiting to hear more from your repertoire and to see if you have the same TLC in your own original compositions as you clearly put into this song. Keep up the good work, Mike! A Terrific Cover Version!

Mike Scott delivers with O'Jays cover
Love Train" is a hit single by The O'Jays, written by Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. Released in 1972, it reached number one on both the R&B Singles and the Billboard Hot 100, in February and March 1973 respectively,[1] number 9 on the UK Singles Chart and was certified gold by the RIAA. Mike Scott's recent cover adds a contemporary approach to this classic soul hit. Scott was wise to include proper backing vocals as this was a staple with the original. The musicianship of the band was tight and the rhythm section is nice and punchy. If you are a fan of the original, I'm sure you'll enjoy this remake.

Nice Voice
One of my favorite songs. I very much like Mike Scott's voice. However, this was an opportunity to give it a unique interpretation with guitar, which is the impression that the picture gives. Instead it sounds like a karaoke performance with the cheesy synth strings and drum machine sounding snare. I for one do not want to hear a synthesizer version of a Gamble and Huff arrangement. If you can't hire a string section, don't put one in the song. I'd like to hear it stripped down.

good
hi, good sound, very 70's and 80's in the same time with effects, good voice for a man. It's sound sometimes like mickael jackson that seems to be inspiration no? so bad the song is not longer with more structure, but it's cool :)

A real crooner's Old fashioned taste
What a voice, damn, you need such a power to be able to give so much in subtlety. The real strength of a crooner is right here: firm tenderness. Every sound seems so simple, so fluid. (Maybe more brass would give the magic touch, I think...) It's always a pleasure for me to listen to good music like this. By the way, lyrics are up to par. Nothing is neglected in this tune. I would love to join that Love train. The guitar is perfect, tasty chords, light touch... Mike Scott must be proud of his work. It reminds me the groove of Belle Perez's musicians. Very talented, soft and precise, without ever being too technical, so, never boring but always relaxing. It definitely fits the word "easy listening". I would go to see him live if he would come by my town. Maybe one day? I will be attentive, for sure. Thank you Mike Scott, and good luck, you deserve it. If you like crooners (when I say crooners, I think about Tom Jones, the Rat Pack, or even Barry White), you are definitely at the right place with Mike Scott. Hello the world...
