About milkteeth
The core of the group are five men with wildly different backgrounds and musical interests: Jeroen Brulez (dr.), Belgian, Dixon Chan (b., gt.), Theo Chan (v,) and Paul Yip, natives of Hong Kong and Jo Appearing sometimes as a lush, orchestrated folk outfit, with
accompaniment from some of Hong Kong’s finest instrumentalists – and other times as a muppetty three-piece punk group, Milkteeth have made a dizzying amount of change in the short time they’ve been together.
The core of the group are five men with wildly different backgrounds and musical interests: Jeroen Brulez (dr.), Belgian, Dixon Chan (b., gt.), Theo Chan (v,) and Paul Yip, natives of Hong Kong and Joey Basha (RIP) (vox., gt., man.) have nothing in common in their iPods, but they all share a love of genre-bending and spontaneity in their music.
Since last year’s release of the Chance EP, hailed by CBC Radio’s Tom Power as “some of the best new-folk made in years”, Milkteeth have moved past their initial fascination with folk genres, into more contemporary ground. Using electric instruments, homemade doo-dads and turning a keen eye towards experimentation in outrageously enjoyable three-minute
blips, they've established themselves as one of the most exciting acts in Hong Kong.
