Minister James A. Willis, Jr. 2015 Bio (short version)

Minister Willis is a native of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Music is not foreign to him. He was born with a melodic intrinsic component! His compelling musical heritage is grounded in the rich traditional roots of the church.
Minister Willis has been singing since he was six years old. When he was eight years old God gifted him with remarkable skills to play the drums, cello, violin and guitar.
Still, his gift continued to grow and he started playing the piano when he was 33.





Minister Willis’ repertoire is well-documented and His brilliant performances demonstrate his enormous sensitivity, musicality and expressiveness with his musical proficiency. Minister Willis, is an accomplished musician, songwriter, producer, artist and preacher who has worked with an “A” List of some of the greatest legendary artists, namely: Yolanda Adams, John P. Kee, Shirley Caesar, Vickie Winans, Beverly Crawford, Edwin Hawkins, BeBe & CeCe Winans, Fred Hammond, Lee Williams, The Williams Brothers, Canton Spirituals, Pace Sisters, Bobby Jones, Shawn MacClemore, David & Tamela Mann, Earnest Pugh, Oscar Williams, Wes Morgan, Karen Clark Sheard, Dorinda Clark Cole and many others. Minister Willis’ list of performances is quite impressive and validates his authenticity. He has performed for the Gospel Music Workshop of America’s artist showcases in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009 and 2010-2012 & the Texas Showcase 2014.

Minister Willis has been blessed over the last 3 decades to write and record over 80 songs in the Gospel music industry. Songs like “I Have Decided”, “Jesus Never Fails”, “Great Day”, “I Can't Wait”, “When Jesus Touched Me”, “This Joy”; just to name a few that have been sung across the country. Several songs have also been recorded by various gospel choirs. He has had 8 songs to be selected by the National GMWA Mass Choir and Choral Choirs. The song “Jesus Never Fails” was recorded at the 2015 GMWA National Convention in New Orleans. In addition, his song “I Have Decided” is featured on the AME International Choir project recorded live in 2014 in Chicago which won the Rhythm of Gospel Award for Best CD project & Best Choir Music in July 2015.

He has recently released his forth CD entitled, “I'll Praise Him LIVE” which is being played all over the USA and in Australia and Africa and the United Kingdom. The debut single of the same name has charted on the Nielsen/BDS Gospel Charts in July 2015 and is still climbing. The music video I’ll Praise Him LIVE” is currently played on international Gospel Television program “Positive Music, Positive Television” in August 2015 in Nassau Bahamas with Landmark Productions in which he was the featured Artist
