Born Sept.18th 1959, in (expired link). Washington (expired link). I found myself being drawn to the entertainment industry at the age of eight.
Being next to the youngest of thirteen siblings (9 boys & 4 girls) I grew up with a lot of examples of first how to honor and praise God with a whole heart, secondly how to honor my mother & father. Also by having so many examples I became determined to excel at whatever I decided to do in life.
I found myself interested in what ever worked by electricity, batteries and the power of the sun, By the age of six I acquired the title of the ( Mad Scientist ), which by the age of eight had been transformed to the ( Professor ) . I was introduced to a guitar by my father as one of my eighth birthday presents. I then became obsessed with the concept of being a professional musician. After about three months of practice I decided to form a group / band. I sought out the best guys (anyone that had any kind of instrument)!
We formed (The Spirit Of Chocolate City) in 1970. I was later selected by (Terrell Jr. High) where I was introduced to a saxophone; to try out for the (Ambassador Drum & Bugle Corp) under the guidance of Mr. Bobby Johnson I acquired skills that would later be instrumental in directing my band to the next level.
In 1977 the name of my group was changed to (Torcher Band & Show). We became a favorite act of Mr. Raymond Gray who headed the (Summer In The Parks / Show Mobil Program. After graduating from Dunbar High School that same year I was hired by (Burg Music Company ) as an audio engineer where after six years I was recommended to (expired link). Productions as an audio engineer / System Installer.
While still employed by both companies, I along with my nephew Mr. Keith Johnson decided to take the band to another level, we took the letters from the band’s name Torcher Band & Show ((expired link).) and started our own sound reinforcement company. Now (expired link). Inc. ( Totally Best In Sound Inc.) was born.
The band and the company did well through the years, and then we all started to go in different directions. And to this date we all are still in the entertainment field and still collaborate on projects.
In 1995 I changed the style of music and direction of the company from( R&B/ Jazz ), to (Inspirational/ Gospel).
I’m now known as (Professor Sax) and I’m (The Proud Owner, Founder, and one of twenty six featured artist of (Dreamer Records Inspirational / Gospel Recording Studio’s). Currently with two locations, Washington (expired link). and our newly opened facility in San Antonio TX. Where eight of our artists are in the top ten on reverbnation’s Christian/gospel charts. 2023
We’ve created (The One Nation Under God Inspirational/ Gospel Tour ) now in its third season, where we gather local church choirs, gospel artists, inspirational speakers and our own featured artists, put them under one roof for three hours at a host church or outdoors in parks, open the doors or gates to the public at no charge and that’s when the praising begins !!!.
Dedicated to serving God with a whole heart, I strive to inspire others through music and words. That's my way of helping others come to know the goodness and mercies that He shows toward us and that He will strengthen anyone willing to give them self to Him through Christ JESUS!
Inspired by my mother, Mrs. Josephine Fairfax etc. I've learned that all things that are done with GOD first shall last, and I hope the work I do will aid everyone in there walk with Him, and keep all of them wrapped in His loving arms!!
I thank everyone in my life for inspiring, motivating, pushing me, and most of all believing in my dream.
