Murky Red’s new album ‘No Pocus Without Hocus’ will be released on October 26, 2015!
This album contains 58.23 minutes of scorching “Murky stuff,” your room will smell like the 70′s by the time the last note is played. Thereafter you have the choice to open your window or just play it once again.
‘No Pocus Without Hocus’ is digital only-release for now, but our the aim is to releases in on CD in the near future. According to Murky Red “If we can raise enough money via sales of this album, combined with our fee from live gigs, we might be able to do it!” Everybody who buys our digital album will receive a special discount for the hard copy from the very moment they become available.
There will be a special price for pre-orders of the digital release on October 5th 2015 and will last till October 25th 2015
All Pre-orders will also receive a free digital copy of the band’s debut album: Time Doesn’t Matter.
The title describes perfectly, the journey that Murky Red travelled, to complete our second album. The change of the band’s line-up, serious illnesses, the loss of loved ones, victims of fraud, financial and relational barriers… It seemed like The Murkies were cursed by the devil (although we paid him, the bloody twat. Wise lesson kids: never trust a devil).
The making of ‘No Pocus Without Hocus’ was no walk in the park, but thanks to dedication, patience (ours and our fans’), friendship and a bit of sorcery, we returned with an album we’re all proud of.
The meaning of the album title is a variation of ‘no gain, no pain’, which reflects on the making of the album but also on daily life. Sometimes you need a little magic to help you through the daily struggle. But that doesn’t mean we made a pitch black, sad album. It’s a laugh and a cry. The songs are about the normal things that happen in your life; you hallucinate a bit, you discuss world problems with your cat, you get horny, you can’t sleep, you penetrate a mermaid with a fish stick… in fact this is the perfect soundtrack for your life! We know our listeners!
Musically, we stole all the best parts of Deep Floyd, The Black Doors, Led Sabbath and Dennie Christian, but you wouldn’t know it if we hadn’t told you. They endured the Murky-treatment: we put them all in big black cauldron, added 4 cans of blues sauce and spiced it with prog-herbs. We stirred it all up and let it simmer for about 2 years. The end result smells funny but it sounds just like Murky Red doing a cover of a Murky Red tribute band.
We asked Colin Tench (Corvus Stone, Coalition, Oceans 5, CTP, Transmission Rails …) for his mixing-pocus and as guest musician on ‘Collateral Damage’. He immediately put a new set of strings on his cowbell. You really don’t want to miss this!
Last but not least, a special thanks to my band members for their effort and positivity during hard times. Murky Red is back and stronger than ever.

About Murky Red
Murky Red is a Belgian based band founded in 2009, who combines elements of classic rock, prog rock, blues, stoner, and metal in their music. If their musical style was a human life form, it would be the love child of Deep Floyd, The Black Doors, and Led Sabbath. Slayer and Monty Python were the nannies.
In 2011 they signed a record deal with the Florida based record label Melodic Revolution Records, and thanks to the support of Martin Smith (they call him the seventh band member) they were able to release their debut album 'Time Doesn't Matter' in 2012, mixed and mastered by Colin Tench (Corvus Stone, Transmission Rails, Oceans 5, Coalition, CTP), who also became a seventh band member actually.
In 2013 the band got screwed by a Canadian promoter/manager. To make a long and annoying story short, this had a big negative effect on the fundraising campaign for their second album. They lost a lot of money, time and effort, but the band kept on moving and continued writing new songs.
After a nasty period of serious illness and the loss of loved ones, Murky Red is ready to strike again with their second album 'No Pocus Without Hocus', to be released on October 26, 2015 by Melodic Revolution Records (you can pre-order the digital album HERE). Colin Tench did once again a fantastic mixing and mastering job, and he added some majestic guitar parts on 'Collateral Damage', one of the new songs on the album.
