The Snowman on the Rio Grande
I was looking for a song to review for some Blincoins and when I saw this one, I had to listen. O-M-G!!! What an AWEOSME Old School Country Song!!! This song is so smooth, clean, and catchy its bound to be a classic. The imagery is just wonderful along with its elements of comic relief. I guess it hit my soft spot since I'm from Texas. Anyway, Mike Bryant has a knack foe writing really quaint, really corny, really heart warming, and really idealistic songs which is the stuff that country music legends are made of. This song has the whole package from the simple melody, to the heart felt lyrics, to the idealistic message of Christmas's gone by. The song transports you to another place in time when things were a lot more innocent and pure. It's such a welcome message here in this brave new Millennium of ours. Thanks, Mike ;)

Pure Delight
A Country Christmas song is so welcome. The Latin stylings are fun and we can see the images in our mind. I love the idea of a child using differing sizes of boxes to make a "snowman". It is delightful to have a story that realizes and encourages creativity in a child, how it can effect a community, how unexpected outcomes such as a Christmas snow can be magic. The unexpected snow fell so that the people of the town could make their own snowman in each yard - another uplifting image fills the mind of the listener. Those who read my reviews know I love a good dance tune. This is a Rumba. So sweet. The listener will experience delight in the telling of this tale. The presentation is lovely with nice vocals and an easy beat. I can easily imagine this song becoming a standard to add to the favorite Christmas playlist. I certainly am going to buy the song and download it to my favorites.

A Frozen Delight
A nice tale of the Christmas wishes of a little boy with allusions to frosty the snowman, or as grand as the tale of Rudolph the red nose raindeer. Easily something that could be played year after year as the seasons roll around or even turned into a Christmas television special. The only suggestion I could make would be to try and clean up the sound on some of the vocals. A few of the phrases got a little blurred or distorted and it wss harder to hear those words, and this is a song that every word needs to be heard clearly since its so enjoyable

For anyone who doesn't know, Slicethepie is a music review site where ordinary members of the public can join up free as a scout (also called reviewer), listen to new songs, and write a short review about the song for a small payment. Each review is just the member's opinion of the song and/or artist. No special musical skill or knowledge is required as the site wants the opinion of the wide general public. In recent years, it has also enabled members to give reviews on fashionable clothes and phone cases, but those are more of a sideline, so this article is only concerned with the music side of Slicethepie and how to write song reviews. As an experienced reviewer on Slicethepie and musician, I wrote this article to advise new scouts on how to write reviews that can be more helpful to the artist, even if they (the reviewers, not the artists) don't have any formal background in music.

A Jimmy Buffett Snowman
Sounds a lot like a Jimmy Buffett song. A great storyteller here. This is a genuine songwriter folks, the real deal. When I listen to a man with talent like this I hear years of experience and life lived. The vocals sound like Burl Ives and the music like Buffett. A strange but surprisingly good combination. Sir I believe your strength is in Holiday songs. Maybe your stage name should be Doc Holiday. This without a doubt is the best song I've heard on N1M so far and gladly give it a big good job Sponge Bob~

...tis the off season..
Mike Bryant brings us The Snowman, a christmas song that just showed up on my list. From the listener's' perspective it sounds like a Jimmy Buffett style of beach music. From a producer's perspective, there is little to get excited about. The mix has a steady dose of stereo imaging and classic nashville pedal steel guitar. Yet at the same time there seems to be a lack of excitement or energy in this song. It's a slice of apple pie, sans the ala mode.

ANOTHER GREAT SONG
Yet again this artist has hit the jackpot with a traditional country song - how good it is in this day and age of pseudo pop artists posing as country to come across someone who is keeping the genre of country alive with simple lyrics and a toe tapping rhythm. I love the pedal steel use in this number, Keep it country Mike.

The Snowman
The snowman is nice, but I'm thinking the musical intro could be improved. The music track sounds good, but for today's market probably wouldn't be accepted. I assume it's a demo? Don't get me wrong I like the track, and I like the melody, and I like the lyrics, does it relate to a true to life story? Best of luck and a very Merry Christmas to you. Guy

My thoughts on "The Snowman"
You painted a very vivid picture that I could easily imagine in my on mind. And that is very hard to accomplish. I really loved the Carribean/Mexican type tempo & melody. I do think that background vocals doing more close harmony with ooh's & ah's would add a nice touch. You get the feeling that this comes from a personal experiance which is much needed in a great song. Nice job. I hope it catches on for you.
