About Neil Barraclough

Always fascinated with music and the recording process from an early age, Neil has been writing songs for almost 30 years. His preteen years listening was his parents 60's/70's record collection, until becoming captivated by the punk movement aged 12.
As a teenager he was absorbed by rock music which led to singing in various local bands. In his mid twenties hearing Dylan's 'Blood on the Tracks' album was a pivotal moment in his song writing development. He followed this discovery by listening exclusively to Dylan for 18 months!
Neil's varied styles of songwriting are tied together by an undercurrent of melancholia and unflinching honesty in his lyrics.
Other big influences have been other self producers, Elliott Smith, Mark Linkous and Mark Kozelek.
Completely self produced in his home studio ' High on the Mountain Line' contains songs written and recorded since 2015.
An earlier release 'Songs from the North' was a collection of songs written and recorded before 2013.
