Nina Began her vocal training with award-winning jazz singer Cheryl Hodge, who remains a mentor to this day. Her first gig on a big stage was as a finalist in the Miss BC Ambassador pageant.
In 2013, Nina recorded her EP, Spell and Reflection, with producer Brandon Delyzer at Baker Studios in Victoria, BC. Dipping more into the blues/pop arena, Spell and Reflection featured Nina’s smooth vocals and an addictive laid back vibe.
Nina’s single Tides debuted on radio in early 2014 on 101.9 K-Rock, live on The Blues Show hosted by John Kereiff. Tides continued to receive radio play and it began spreading to other stations across BC and Alberta until CBC Radio picked Up Only Human for a feature on North By North West.
Nina Amelio spent the spring and summer of 2014 playing festivals and shows through BC, ending with a special performer slot of the 2014 Revelstoke Homecoming, a special event that only happens every 10 years and brings
thousands into Revelstoke.
Nina more recently placed Top 10 in the regional finals for CBC’s Searchlight Competition with her song about empowerment and abuse, Who Do You Think You Are?(Recorded at Zedd Records). Radio One and Juice FM ended up putting the song into rotation during April 2015 and the song has continued to pick up steam In the UK and World Wide on Deuce Radio. As more Fans and Supporters take notice. Nina is passionate about spreading her message to help put an end to bullying and has received an incredible outpouring of support during the push for Who Do You Think You Are from fans that resonate with its message.
Taking her music to the next level, Nina is working on her brand new single with hit songwriter/producer Mark Zubek (Grammy winner Betty Carter), owner and founder of Zedd Records, a record label based out of Toronto. The single is set for a winter 2015/2016 release.
