About Sydney Jay
A singer, songwriter, dancer, fabulous afro-wearing naturalista, but most importantly, a 21 year old Chicago songstress who has yet to be heard. Sydney Jay was first recognized by Chicago’s top Hip-Hop and R&B station WGCI in her teenage years. Ever since, she has been testing the musical waters by performing live around Chicago, posting song covers on her YouTube channel and successfully dropping original music via sound cloud. Sydney has been working on her craft behind the scenes collaborating and doing vocals for other artists such as Mayo, Jack Red and Chance The Rapper to name a few.
She hopes to shed light on her soulful, R&B/Pop styling and refresh the ears of the Chicago scene. Old school R&B meets jazz – infused pop with the stylistic vocals. Sydney’s collaboration with Mayo titled “Memories” hit over 100K plays this year.
Her first time around on the net collaborating with Chicago’s own “Mayo” was a track called memories that hit over 100k that summer. Once putting out her own music, her numbers have steadily been increasing with songs such as “Attention” and “Same Page” Jumping from 15k to over 30k. This Christmas, Sydney will be releasing a third track from her debut “Red Logic” EP and plans to out do them all.
Behind the scenes of the music, Sydney attends college part time in hopes of graduating with a business degree & also works as a barista. When not working on her own music, learning in school or making the best coffee on the planet, Sydney does background vocals in studios, sings for weddings, corporate events, church, and most recently commercial-radio gigs. This year she has been working harder than ever to better herself and perfect her craft. She recently even went out to L.A. to network and record music. This year has allowed her to work with credited people who recognize her talents and have provided her with great opportunities. Sydney Jay wants to be someone who reaches all of her potential, travels the world, creates, performs and does what she’s always dreamed of, but at the end of the day, Sydney Jay wants to be living proof of a dream come true. She wants to inspire those around her to work hard and be the version of themselves that they always wanted to be.
