Artist Notes: Modus Vivendi

Ya know, maybe I watched Robin Hood movies too many times as a child.

Modus Vivendi is a song of tension, agreements/arrangements and the perceptions buried within (implied, perceived or expressed). Held or broken, they are what they are… no true bonds, there are never allegiances that are ever truly binding in the prevalent culture… just empty agreements that represent government/business assurances that the plan, will be adhered to by ‘all’ parties for some period of time.

Agreements occur at every level in life; and at times, in order to fulfill the terms of agreements, all parties of said agreement must come to some reasonable accord on terms. These terms are often accepted until a more…… suitable……. arrangement can be found. They are however, pretentious at best.

Modus Vivendi, should be accepted as a commentary or possibly an observation of the status between big business and the “common people” as it were; or as a critique on social relationships, or maybe even (although far be it from me to ever think of such a thing), the relationships between the governments (they are plural) that enslave all of us regardless of family, ethnicity; origin, or culture, and support the scourge that has plagued the planet since its creation.; greed, prejudice and hate and those that proliferate it and those that deem themselves.... SUPERIOR!

However, turnaround is fair play in a society that lacks leadership worth an honorable mention, turnaround is an acceptable eventuality. And as it is said, tables will turn.

This is somewhat of an autobiographical commentary. However, it may apply to many, in all aspects of life with their different interpretations of perspectives. In this case, the supposition is that for the audience, the two hours or so of a stage performance can often times delivers a somewhat skewed perception of who the artist really is and to a more serious degree, what they represent. This is often the case in the genre referred to as “Rap”. Audiences can often be mislead by the 2 or so hours on stage and not see the individual behind the artist; they are plural.

“You Don’t See Me” is presented here in a very raw form (Edit #) and performed in a manner possibly somewhat reminiscent of The Who (Noah style of course), this song is intended to invoke the feeling of the 70’s rock era where free form was acceptable. Much in the style of Baba “O Reiley this song is intended to feel make you feel as though that era never left; but with a point.
Yeah, I know; it’s a bit on the pop side for me but stuff happens sometimes.

This song has been a few years in the making. Although not complicated, it is a theme that took some time to consider the various aspects from which it could be approached. In my search to find words to describe the impetus that would have driven one man to want to enslave another, I was at a loss. So the beginning of this track remains instrumental however is intended to represent the motivation to undertake the task; and the long sea voyage to places unknown, in order to capture and enslave other humans.

Being the dreamer that I sometimes am, I decided to turn the tables a bit from the typical tales from history.

The major character of this story is an individual that was taken aboard ship and securely chained; as the story typically goes and destined to be committed to a life of servitude like the many others before. Only this time, they captured the wrong Ohne. It is sometimes interesting how things can change at the flip of a coin.

This Ohne, was enlightened. A deliverer from some “distant” place; learned in the arts of stealth, power, deception and speed; he was set on a mission to change the tides of time, by whatever means deemed possible and necessary. Sound familiar?

Having learned through his enlightenment that the most efficient method of neutralizing any threat, is from the inside; the mission begins. Assisted, cloaked and hidden by the arrogance of his captors; who believe it is their destiny to subjugate everyone to their will, it is his destiny to move unobstructed in the shadows of their lives and obtain true infiltration, on behalf of the downtrodden.

To the enslaver; religious, government or radical…..

Hello Everyone,

Firstly, I'd like to thank all of my supporters. The responses have been fantastic and I really appreciate that very much.

I have been busy in the studio with some new ideas. I am truly sorry for the lack of communication recently, however I assure that those of you that like what I'm doing won't be disappointed with the new material. I'm just polishing up a few edits and I will post something shortly.

There are also plans for a CD later in the year, tentatively called "And Then Came Ohne".

This is just another of my sometimes rather abstract musings. A Dog’s Day is a cheeky reference to the task’s that we are expected to perform on a daily basis. Although dull and hum-drum for the most part they have to be done. However, at the end of the day, we can sit back and hopefully find at least a few minutes of enjoyment and pleasure in our favorite activity; whatever that might be ; and wander off to some peaceful space in preparation to…… do it again the next day?

The ultimate goal of our repetitive performance being the expectation of the somewhat elusive and ever diminishing fair wage. We are…. The Hunting Dogs…. uh… as referenced in the lyrics of course. This in turn requires that the proverbial “master” to be “need”. Starting to sound like Maslow’s hierarchy?

At any rate, I like to take a somewhat cynical and often satirical view of things and if A Dog’s Day provides a bit of escape, then this is a good thing and hopefully a bit of amusement comes along with.

As I sit here listening to the final mix of the music for this song, I realize that I am approaching the most drudgerous part of the creation process (for me anyway).Singing has never been one of my strong suites and I hate doing it, even for my own recordings. But, some things have to be done regardless of how unappealing they may seem.

However, the theme for this song is particularly appealing to me. Christmas was always my favorite holiday and although I must admit, when I was a kid the major appeal was the presents, lights, food, etc. Although all of the traditional regalia that many associate with having a “good” Christmas is great, it has little to do with the real reason why the day is important. This aspect, I attribute to commercialism and the efforts of retailers.

This song hopefully provide some thought provoking regarding the real reason for the Christmas celebration and bring a new meaning to this year’s festivities; and also why it is important to not allow any entities to take Christ out of the equation.

This song was written for all of the lost souls; those that feel like life has little meaning and little left to offer. This song is an offer of hope. Just hang in there and look towards the only solution available to any of us. It is intended as an offer that there is hope. So hopefully, for those in seemingly insoluble difficulties, a ray of hope can be found in the lyrics of this song.

This song is about a deposed emperor that by any means possible was on a mission to regain that which was lost.

I’m a huge fan of science fiction, and the other day I was watching the classic “The Time Machine”. As the movie progressed, I started thinking (and more often than not my wife says this is a bad thing); but anyhow, I started thinking that government and religion are much like the Moorlocks. The blood thirsty and power hungry that themselves lack self-control; but need to impose it on everyone else.

And then to my dismay, the realization occurred that “we the people” must then be the Eloy.

Think about it! ?

And now, on to Constantine. The Bible, as we (in general) know it, is the product of Constantine and his “council”. Firstly, due to the circumstances, which I interpreted was a deposed emperor that “by any means possible” wanted his control back; the seat of power, of godliness (note the lower case “g”), and, not that of a man inspired to follow a God that opposed the power of the seat of Rome. And that BS about his revelation of a cross in the sky, was another painted flaw in history. The nature of man has not changed regardless of the man.

As all governments desire even to this day, control of the population was key to his success. However, by that time the people believed in one God. In order to put the godliness back in the seat of Rome, Constantine convened a group of so called “religious leaders” to assemble books that THEY thought accurately depicted the origins and hierarchy of man (from a purely Roman perspective of course). Do you think this was done without the bias of a political figure? Look at the one’s we have today for an example. Government is still government. And since the (expired link). government was patterned after old Rome you should know where this is going by now.

The Bible as we know it was assembled as a control document…. nothing more. It is incomplete (errors of Constantine’s council). The parts were omitted that put man on a one to one relationship with God. The proof is in the references in the Bible to Biblical books that do not exist in the popularly formatted book. Instances such as The Book Of Jashur, or references to Enoch but never any detail about who Enoch is except for the genealogical reference. Or the inconsistencies between the description of Jesus in the biblical text and the fake ass blond haired blue eyes idols that you find in most churches. Jesus, if you believe was a Nazarene, a Jew, and in that time they were neither blond haired or blue eyed. I doubt that GOD would have inspired an incomplete document, so man must be responsible for any omission, inconsistencies, and errors in translation and/or corruptions of meaning.

Today, if the government attempted to suppress literature of any kind (as is still being done) what would be your reaction? Outrage? A general ...ed offness? Would you rebel? Save the sacred documents so valued by YOUR tradition?

My supposition is that Constantine, regardless of how our lying history painted him, was a criminal; a terrorist of the highest order, a suppressor of knowledge and an oppressor of people.

Sounds like criminal activity to me!
