About Oddur
Crocodile Horse Disco........... Even though Oddur had apparently been part of Lamb's live set up since 2001, I first heard him on Lamb's beautiful 2003 album "Between Darkness & Wonder" where his folky guitar immediately gave the band a richer new sound allowing then to depart somewhat from the trademark electronic beats and swirls which they'd previously relied upon. As far I'm aware this is Oddur's first release since the dissolution of Lamb although the Infinite Bloom website says he's worked with a variety of other luminaries including the excellent Adam Freeland no less. From the opener 'call you up' it's obvious that Oddur is a cut above many of the faux folk acts hurriedly signed of late; evidence perhaps that Oddur is not part of the bandwagon and has been writing this kind of material since well before some soulless accountant/ A&R decided that folky was 'cool'. Indeed, there is little of any glossy pop production evident here; rather the production is understated and intimate, more reminiscent of Damien Rice or earlier Elliot Smith and this lets Oddur's unique voice and understated guitar really do the talking.
