About OESOPHAGUS

Oesophagus: brutal, heavy, off-timed, chunky, metal... formed in 1997 in the town of Mount Maunganui on the east coast of New Zealand (Aotearoa). originally starting as a 5 piece they set out to write the heaviest most brutal metal they could imagine. but at the start there technical skills were not upto par with thier creativity.
fast track to 2007 and the band has achieved the vision they had as teenagers. now a 4 piece they are writing/performing exactly the way they always wanted. heavy, brutal metal with no compromise.
Just think... when you listen to a metal album and the music is all chaotic and superfast, it then kicks into a breakdown and your head unintentionally starts to go up and down and you exclaim, thats heavy ((expired link). that 'domination' riff by Pantera). well Oesophagus could never understand why a whole song was like that. and that is exactly the metal they have achieved. as well as mixing it up with random time signatures and syncopated guitars/drums.
