About Omar Al Faqir
I am here to establish a solid foundation for Jazz in Jordan and to spread it all around the world, so we need support from the masters...
Omar was born in Amman-Jordan . He grew up in a family who has been creating music for more than 100 years and who mastered all kinds of arts. His family always and until now supports Omar in every way possible. His father (Hasan Faqir) one of the Oriental music masters taught Omar the basics of music and because of his father's huge music library Omar was able to master almost all kinds of music genres. Also, Omar was enriched by his late grand father musical legacy.
Omar started with his relatives : Abed Faqir, Issam Faqir, Bashar Arafat, Majdi Qamhieh, and Husam Soloh, the first Jazz band in Jordan "Faculty –X" that introduced Amman to Jazz Fusion and that performed in almost all venues, theatres and festivals. The band "Faculty - X" auditioned and brought to light many young Jordanian musicians who made nice guitarists and drummers talents later on.
Omar performed in many local and international concerts and festivals, and he performed with many great musicians such as Stanley Jordan, Charles Davis, Noah Howard, Abdo Dagher, Ricardo Garcia, Khalid Mohamad Ali, Chris Byars, John Mosca, Chris Washbourne, Ari Roland, Ryan Coen, Alvin Atkinson, and many others.. He recorded the first Jordanian-American Jazz album "Desert Harmony" with the late saxophone player Noah Howard. He created many music themes such as "Jazz Abdul Wahab". Omar recent albums are "From within" and "Faculty-X" 2013 and "Pulse" that featured Dave Weckl and Tom Brechtein. For more information check on (expired link).
