About Onice
To speak of Onice is to recognize the history of reggae in Spanish, after more than thirty years in force on the scene, this genre has grown enough to encompass a massive community well representative in the Hispanic geography. Being known in the musical world identifies them as a Latin or Rock en Español group, but Onice's fight is to achieve that reggae in Spanish is accepted as a universal musical genre.
Formed on February 22, 1987, it has a long history without interruption, accompanied by five full-length albums that are “Capas Concéntricas”, the first reggae album produced by a Venezuelan group (1994), followed by “La Verdad”, then “Ha Llegado el Momento”, then“ Restauración”and more recently“ Gran Sabana Dub ”in tribute to the renowned musician Miguel Noya. Also an endless number of participations in compiled albums and in national and international festivals. Its members are Daniel González on lead guitar, Chico Miranda on rhythm guitar, Genis Miranda on keyboards, Franklin Díaz on drums, Rafael Flores on bass and Alexis Bello on Sax, who recreate a musical concept with a global sound adaptable to all kinds of audiences without distinction of age and social class.
With the presence of globalization, it is not easy to differentiate between artists who are talented and who are a media product, to appreciate a performance of Onice is to live a memorable experience, it is an action of resistance to maintain good music that is made with effort, learning and discipline. Staying in the arena of entertainment for three decades, makes them among the most representative artists of the Venezuelan urban movement and gives them a credential of top exponents in Reggae.
