SOMETIMES A MYSTERY - My reflections
First, the guitar intro is very enchanting, and leads gently into other instruments joining in, which lays out the red carpet for the vocals to enter... The voice is warm and the lyrics very thoughtful to be sure. The percussion leading up to the chorus is just right, and not too much; the changes and progression leading to the solo is fun to hear. The guitar solo really smokes this song and leads into a beautiful break in the sound. The acoustic guitar and vocal come out of this crescendo and carry the song masterfully to the end. Overall, this is one of my favorite jams from Outfall and the only weak spot in my mind is the snare sound when the song gets heavy... a warmer/deeper snare probably would make that part a bit more appropriate. Great song, lyrics/music and creative ideas! I look forward to more of your music. fool4christ

Hats Off to JC - Shredding Guitar
Firstly I would say excellent crafted work. Nice musical sounding chord progression and structure. High quality instrument and vocal performance. Lyrics that spread the word of the Almighty. Or, for secular people-positive message music-not hate music. Second, I'd say listen to the Small Faces Ogden Nut Gone Flake album, tune called Mad John. I was reminded of Mad John when listening to the tune Sometimes A Mystery. Sort of the band Spirit's Taurus to Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven. To be straight, there's no copyright issue I'm intending to imply-just as Spirit/Taurus had no valid claim to Stairway. The tunes just share some commonalities. I would say Outfall's guitar soloing outshines the Mad John tune, which, in fact, has no guitar solo. Steve Marriott definitely had vocal chops. (Listen to Small Faces "You Need Lovin" if you want to hear how Robert Plant, (perhaps-ya think?), developed the "Whole Lotta Love" vocals). Overall Marriott's guitar work was rawer, less processed and less intricate the Outfall guitarist. No heresy intended to Small Faces/Marriott fans-the dude was a phenom-but IMHOP not exactly Jimi or Clapton or even Pete Townsend on guitar. The Outfall vocals are capable and professionally performed. All in all, the tune makes me want to hear more. So if this style of music is your "bag", I would recommend. Just a note-It may be (nice)magnanimous to give 5 stars to everyone, but it is IMHOP disingenuous (a lie). My favorite songs/performances of all time rate the highest possible score of 5. So a tune by a band like for instance, "The Beatles", (or other fairly universally recognized brilliant, groundbreaking, virtuoso performer), shouldn't get the same rating as "Johnny Schmuck" who sh*ts on a plate and calls it "art." (Apologies for the * curse if it offends-it's just intended bring home the point). Anyway-check out Outfall.

Honest to God rock and roll
Outfall's recording of "Sometimes a Mystery" is genuine rock and roll, and genuine worship. The lyrics are a dry-eyed consideration of the big picture: that God, whose thought are higher than our thoughts, and whose ways are higher too, according to scripture (Isaiah 41:9) is sometimes hard for us puny humans to understand. The sound is sparse and barren, befitting the challenging message, except for a raucous lead guitar duet (reminiscent of the 1970's rock group Boston) in the break.

I like the overall vibe!
Hey guys, I like the overall vibe but the EQ and production is suffering a bit. It could use a good mix engineer. Mystery is always a cool concept as well. Im not one hundred per cent sure what you were trying to say here so I'll let that slide. It sounded like you were saying we can't know why why some suffer and some don't, it's a mystery. Is that it? Anyway, as I was thinking about it the guitar solo started. I like what you did. At times the acoustic was a little loud and not blending with the track and at times the distortion guitar was low & fuzzy. If that's what you are going for then great. Over all good job. I would like to hear a well produced version of your stuff. It would be fun to hear. Blessings-

Mood Music
Some fast ans clean guitar playing for sure. And layered on top of each other rather well. The vocals could be interesting, there is not much of them. Vocals are too low but there is some character in the voice. Overall for what is there it is very good. Would like to see a more developed song from you.

Eerily haunting and still compelling
Love the atmosphere of the instruments on this song - a great background track opening for a movie scene. Then it kicks into 'real' classic rock and it's a pleasant surprise. From a production standpoint, bring the vocals up a tad - the message is everything. Good job.

Strong!
I like the originality of your work. Strong message and creativity is a big plus. Good production,i can hear some good vocals to this, good job on the final mix-down. I can tell you have your heart and soul into what you do. Keep on pushing and never give up or get distracted in pursuing the dream of making it. I like the instrumental blend of sounds with the vocals and the production on the track is good. Keep up the great work! Peace!!!

purely based on the music...
Not a religious person in any way I approached this piece purely from a musical perspective. It is reminiscent of 70's prog rock, with a careful sense of dynamics and structure. The melody is based in folk rock with a waltzing 3/4 tempo and a mix of instrumentation, overall it delivers on both poise and poignancy

I like the idea
I have to mention that I am always happy when bands head the call to write songs of praise. This review is just one mans opinion. I would like to see some tweaks on the arrangement. I think the intro is a bit too long. I thought it was going to be an instrumental. Keep in mind that you typical A&R guy is going to give it seconds to grab interest. Would like to have the heavy guitar kick in a bit sooner. The solo is good but, personally, would like it to be a bit more melodic to fit the track instead of showing your chops. A mix of both would be cool. I did like the track and it's content. The production was okay. Blessings

VERY MISTIC AND GOOD SONG.
The same melody can be interpreted softly, melodiously, joyfully, raw, playful, and in many ways sung or played by an instrument. Think of a metal song, a children's song or a romantic song. Of course, this is not a purely compositional aspect, but we must take it into account as it influences notoriously. Thinking about how the melody should sound, even the timbre of it is a very important aspect. Very good song. My congratulations.

Mysterious...
This recording has a lot of exotic flavors. It comes largely from its combination of tempo and rhythmic structure. I recall "nomadic folklore." Likewise, the song creates "mysterious" air as it is intended to be. Very interesting... Stay safe and keep the music playing.

Classic Christian Rock Song
I liked the intro's soft mysterious vibes and how the song builds to a heavy rock guitar lead that squeals in the best way. I would have liked another electric guitar ride, like the first, at the end of the song. Good instrumental work throughout. The lead singer's vocal is excellent for this Christian rock song. Just smoky enough! This song has a certain feeling reminiscent of the rock classic "Dreamweaver". I wanted it to be longer. Overall "A" - great job!
