Mirshad Buckman
Mirshad Buckman is the founder of Paranoid Earthling and has been the lyricist, vocalist, guitarist, composer and producer for the band's music since 2001. He also designed the band's logo and has built the brand image for Paranoid Earthling by designing all the band paraphernalia over the years. He self-produced the debut album for the band in November 2023 which includes seven of the band's original music and released it on digital streaming platforms titled 'Illusion Empire'.

Paranoid Earthling Illusion Empire Album Tour 2023-2024
Read moreAfter years of anticipation Paranoid Earthling, the rebel rock band of 22 years releases their full-length album Illusion Empire on all direct streaming platforms (DSPs) in November and will then commence their album tour from Colombo on Saturday 02 December at Floor by O in Colombo 07, Sri Lanka.
The album includes seven original songs, which Paranoid Earthling has performed at numerous gigs over the years that have become anthems for their fans during trying times. In August 2022, the band released ‘Reign’ as a single, which is one track off the album; followed by an aptly illustrated lyric video that was shared widely through the band’s social media networks and was re-posted by the fans.
Apart from ‘Reign’ the album includes Proceed, In Black and White, Deaf Blind Dumb, Feel My Ritual, Half Cast, and (expired link). Touching upon the themes of post-war experiences, dictatorship, oppression, freedom of speech, media freedom, and rights to life; Paranoid Earthling manages to illustrate the angst of the world citizen in this 35-minute auditory experience.
Striving to bring trendsetting experiences through their music Paranoid Earthling will reveal their album in six parts, providing their fans to immerse in their debut album in the lead-up to their upcoming album tour. The full album drops in the third week of November 2023 on all DSPs.

Many countries across the world are witnessing the public outcry of the civilians over dictators and corrupt political leaders, and this year Sri Lanka too managed to mobilise a people's movement and uprising ousting a regime. Paranoid Earthling in a very timeless fashion managed to see through these elements when their latest single release was written and composed.
Aptly named ‘Reign’ the song is available on all significant direct streaming platforms (DSPs) from 08 August 2022 and will be available as a digital release.
The lyrics themselves embody the egocentricity of a ruler that is launching into a monologue against its rebellious citizens. The song encompasses dictatorship, corruption, overconsumption, angst, oppression, and curtailing freedom of expression and right to information.

Paranoid Earthling (PE) is a rock band from Sri Lanka and active since 2001. Considered the first rock n roll act to rise from the ancient city of Kandy, Paranoid Earthling’s passion for music saw no genre separation and has carved out a unique yet constantly evolving sound over the years.
PE questions the status quo through their anarchic anthems that are composed around themes of world peace, freedom of speech, minority oppression, and dictatorship, and expressing the angst of youth who grew up through a 30-year war.
The band’s music with its edgy and shock value elements manages to fit in perfectly in any concert, making it a hot pick among local and international music festivals.
With its maiden international tour to India in 2009 performing in the cities of New Delhi, Bangalore, and Chennai, PE spread its music to the South Asian region. The band later went on to be included in artist rosters of leading music festivals in India such as the SAARC Bands Festival in Purana Qila, in 2009 and 100 Pipers Nations for Peace in Gurgaon, in 2016.
Taking their music to the wombs of the Hindu Kush mountains in Afghanistan through the Sound Central Music Festival, in 2012, Paranoid Earthling became the first ever Sri Lankan rock band to perform original music in Central Asia.
Today band comprises Mirshad Buckman - the founding member, lyricist, guitarist, vocalist, and producer; Tony Jayathilaka - guitarist (session); Kaveesha Karunarathna - drummer; and Riyal Riffai - Bass Guitarist.
