Life is Good!

Hi Folks! Despite all the world's insanity, the world continues to turn and the seasons continue to change.

One of the great benefits of living in Western Pennsylvania is that we have spectacular fall foliage. Although you do have to rake it up, the spectrum of colors is truly awe inspiring.

Of course, fall also means that Christmas is just around the corner. With the pandemic and the economic recession, it will likely be a very unusual holiday. Somehow, though, I think the joy of the season will overwhelm and dominate the other issues.

Again, I thank you all for supporting my music, it means so much to me.

Hi Folks! I am writing this from a midst of a heatwave in Pittsburgh. We are in day 3 of an expected 8 day run of 90 degree days. In the old days, we might hit 90 once or twice a summer, but I guess this is the new normal.

Thank you again for all of your support and kind words of encouragement. My band Heart-Beat! has not played live this year due to the pandemic and our August and September shows were just cancelled. So I guess we will start practicing Christmas music!

My prayers and good thoughts are going out to all of you music lovers--you are truly Number One in my mind! We are continuing to hunker down here in PA. I am truly blessed in that both my wife and I have been able to work from home and are still getting paid, I know that's not the case for so many. It has been so encouraging to see so many good people stepping up to provide food and assistance to those in need. I am no scientist, but I think if we can have a little more patience we will get the worst behind us and can start moving forward.

The recording process with my band Heart-Beat! has been put on huld due to the pandemic. I did want to share again this song from our Archive called "Whisper." This was recorded over 10 years ago when we had 2 guitarists and 2 additional female singers. So we really had a BIG sound.

I sing lead and play bass on this. Lisa does a nice counter melody. And the coda was an All-Skate with a ton of voices, lol. Considering that this was recorded on a Roland portable digital studio with run of the mill mic's, a variety of locations and only Dan and Myself running the board, I was very happy that we pulled off such a complicated arrangement. TBT, Bryan Helsel cleaned it up and mixed it at his studio after the fact, which certainly helps.

My country was going through another crisis at that time. The point of the song was that God is always with us and He is also speaking to us. But with so much clamor and "surface noise", can you hear Him? He can speak with a booming voice, but often, I feel, He speaks to us in a Whisper.

I just wanted to give you all a brief update on what I have been up to.

My group, Heart-Beat!, finally returned to the studio in January. We are currently working on 2 of my original songs, "Smile" featuring my daughter Stephanie on lead vocals, and "For Free" featuring our lead guitarist Dale Kryzinski on lead vocals. We spent about 8 hours getting the drums, bass and guitars down. We are going back on February 8 to add keyboards and vocals. If we can get those all down, we will just need to mix and master it. So keep watching this spcae!

These are both Christian songs that hopefully capture the joy of loving the Lord.

I continue to marvel at how much you appreciate my Christmas music, it brings me such joy that these songs have touched so many around the world.

In my neighborhood Halloween has become a very big deal. Houses are decorated to the hilt with spooky, seasonal stuff. Pumpkins are everywhere. And Halloween lights are really big. But, while I love the way people get into it, orange and white lights just don't do it for me.

Now, Christmas Lights, that's a whole other matter. Whether it's a great spectrum of colors or many strings of the same color, they bring me such joy from the first time that I see them until the last strand is taken down (we leave ours up until February, lol).

This song was inspired by that emotion and especially the way our eldest child, Stephanie, reacted to the lights as a newborn. She was born on December 2nd and one of the ways we could soothe her was to take he close to the christmas tree so that she could see the lights. That's her voice you hear singing with me.

So, I wanted to give this song a little boost as we ramp up for the Holidays. I added a couple of pictures: one shows some of our family ornaments and the other shows our male cat, Bert, who is the best cat in the whole world, admiring the tree.

Thank you again for all of your support, it means the world to me. I also truly treasure the messages you send to me. Hopefully I have responded to all of them.

Hello everybody! At this time last year, I was spending most of my free time driving to Helsel Music in Butler, PA to try to finish my CD in time for Christmas. As I sit here on this warm August morning, I am reflecting on how truly blessed I am. My music is fast approaching 40,000 plays here on N1M. Unbelievable! I received such amazing and uplifting messages from you all, I cannot being to express what they mean to me.

God is Good! Whatever gifts I may have, come from Him. It was His inspiration that is behind the songs on this CD. It only through His grace that I was able to undertake and finish this project. All praise and glory to God!

I continue to pray for you and all of your families. Trust in God, my friends, knock and the door will be opened unto you.

Temperatures here in Pittsburgh are expected to hit the mid-90's today, with a heat index well over 100 degrees. It's so important in weather like this to avoid over-exertion, to drink plenty of fluids and to check on the elderly and those who don't have air conditioning.

I believe that we have a responsibility to take care of each other, but also to take care of ourselves. Who will care for the care-giver if they don't care for themselves?

Music, I also believe, is a gift from God. Music has the power to help us heal, to get us moving, to lift our spirits, to inspire us and help us reflect, and grow.

I am so thrilled that you all have made my music part of your life. These songs came from God, and though I am an imperfect messenger, I think His Grace shines though still.

So keep on riding that cool Christmas vibe. And drink some extra fluids today.

Hello, my friends! It seems like much of the world is having a heat wave these days. In Pittsburgh we have been in the upper 80's but with the extra added bonus of heavy thunderstorms---fun!

One way to beat the heat, or at least fool your self into thinking that you have, is by listening to some snappy Christmas songs. And I have a lot of those for you , lol.
