Thanks for being on my mail list. As I'm a songwriter, I though maybe you might be interested in how I write. I mainly write to melody, that is when I can find one I think is good enough - I think the best are hidden away for the chosen few. Anyhow, when I hear something I like, generally something comes into my head to kick things off and from then on I can't leave it alone - I'm like the classic writer in that I run over lyrics in my head and inevitably want to make changes before I forget them, so I end up getting out of bed in the middle of the night or on my hands and knees writing on a piece of paper on the pavement in the middle of town - just to change a few words !! I always talk about having a song on the slab, where it has to stay until ready for a demo and I have a simple traffic light system for progressing a song - red obviously means it's going nowhere and if something doesn't come in a week, it's binned - amber is when I've progressed to a point where I'm happy with the song, but something's irritating me and it needs tweaking - green is when I'm entirely happy (if that's possible) and it goes for a demo, but even when that's going on changes have still been made!
Before I go, I'll just say thay I'm working on a new song I'm calling 'Hopscotch'which is about a girl playing hopscotch with a guy's feelings. Also, I recently released my song 'High' as a download single on iTunes and other distributors and although I don't have the power (money) to really promote it and get it into the charts, if you click on this link into iTunes, you can see it's had 5 star reviews and an average rating of 4 and a half stars, so I'm really pleased with that (expired link)
Thanks for reading this and I'll update on my new song soon.
Best,
Paul.
