About Perseus

(expired link) Perseus is a power metal band, born in Brindisi (Puglia, Southern Italy ) in 2011, from the ashes of
two old important local bands; Hastings (prog-metallers who played as supporters of Athena and Eldritch)
and Defenders of the Faith , Judas Priest tribute band. In a music style widely explored in all its forms ,
Perseus have carved out one their personal space, taking inspiration from the traditional schools of metal
(Judas Priest , Iron Maiden, Manowar), not disdaining influences from the italian and foreign 'avant-garde'
( Rhapsody Of Fire , Kamelot and Labyrinth). Catchy melodies, in line with the Italian melodic tradition of
‘bel canto’, are mixed with rocky riffs, that alternate deep moments, highlighted by the use of acoustic
guitars and keyboards used to highlight the salient moments of the tracks . Particular importance is given to
the lyrics, vitalizing appendices of tracks that are nothing, if not emotional manifestation of a dynamic
band, constantly looking for new geographies able to transmit sound power, inducing however the listener
to deep reflections . The lyrics are a sort of introspective journey of exploration of the multiple aspects of
the human soul . Passion , suffering, joy, love, damnation, redemption, etc ., are the main themes covered
in the texts of the quintet. After the creation of two self-produced demos cd (Ashes to Ashes and Icarus
Creed , both of 2011 ), the band was noticed by the genoese label Nadir Music, captained by Tommy
Talamanca, Trevor, ( both members of the extreme metal band named Sadist) and by the manager Federico
Gasperi. For Nadìr music, Perseus have been recording in October 2013, the debut album entitled The
Myistic the hands of Fate, produced by Tommy Talamanca which, for this occasion, also recorded
keyboards for the band. This work enables the group to better articulate the themes developed in Icarus
creed, deepening the fantastic and visionary universe of John Burns, successful man from New York, who
embarks himself on a harrowing journey to redemption.
He is not interest in power and money, since Heleanor abandoned him because of his materialism and his
repeated betrayals. Devastated by sorrow, John closed him progressively in himself , abandoning his work
as a broker at Wall Street and rewriting their own destiny according to new spiritual coordinates. In his
wanderings to search for a new soul dimension, John is set to take part in a conference organized by dr.
Icarus Lazard , a magician and philosopher, who preaches the abandonment of the world and the creation
of a community of men , free from the bonds of the sprawling society . Our character leaves New York and
embarks himself on his new existential adventure, going to live on a remote island in the Pacific Ocean,
renamed Emera, a Greek word that has the meaning of Day, to be understood as a new dawn, new love,
new life. In this place, John rediscovers the joy of living, experiencing the magic touch with the primal
forces of Creation. His idyllic life will soon end. Dark forces conspire to destroy the community that Dr.
Icarus Lazard has created with so much effort and dedication.
Love will change into hate, harmony in devastation, in a whirlwind of events that will lead John to touch
once again the decadent hand contemporary civilization.

2016 : The power metal band of Brindisi is pleased to announce the release date of his second job. After "The Mystic Hands Of Fate" (Nadir Music, 2013) and important concerts in support of Queensryche, Vision Divine and Pino Scotto, Perseus are ready to make a new step in their musical career, which so sees their style already well defined, rich keyboards with Giulio Cattivera of Dragonhammer that joins them. This disc will surely be appreciated by all fans of a style that includes bands like Judas Priest, Labyrinth, Queensryche and Power Metal Italian.
