About Planet Fiction
Planet Fiction; Meaning: to be in a state of euphoria(high),a fictional planet,or our very own Earth, when it all feels fake! Planet Fiction is one of the hardest working and longest standing original Brisbane metal bands on the Queensland Music scene. With a solid fan base and consistently attracting large crowd numbers for their live shows,
Planet Fiction guarantees an interactive, high energy performance that will turn any metal or hard rock follower into a committed fan of their music.
The band, born in early 2008, garners an original alternative metal sound and delivers high energy live shows that are consistently exceptional quality.
Planet Fiction credits their influences to bands including Deftones, A Day to Remember, Finch, Tool, Silverchair, Enter Shikari, Faith No More, Funeral for a Friend, The Getaway Plan, Dead Letter Circus and Taking Back Sunday.
Planet Fiction’s fans describe the music as “powerful, big, fun and original”.
“They are amazingly tight and produce such an awesomely huge sound for three instruments”. (Jubilee Hotel ~Fortitude Valley)
"Certainly sounding on a level with ‘Deftones’, only bringing the style up to date and adding their own flavour and even doing it a little better, Planet Fiction are a freakishly energetic band holding nothing back for their live show. If you love heavy music with an original twist, it's about to get a lot louder and a lot more insane." 5 stars – studotwho (Triple J Unearthed review)
After 2 demos, 2011 saw the boys hit the studio to record their first single "My Dying Experience (with you)” which has been released to their die-hard fans as an “internet release” with the intent of releasing it on their debut EP. Fast forward to November 2012 and Planet Fiction hit the studio at Audiosapien to record their debut EP "Owned". [Released 2013].
The highly anticipated release of their debut EP, “Owned” at The Tempo Hotel earlier in 2013 was hugely successful as the band played to a full house of fans, both old and new. Planet Fiction shows are currently being lined up for 2014 and the band is in high demand. The boys have recently finished recording their first music video and await the final stages of production
