About Poetic Sam

At about 15 years old I started to write poetry to convince myself that I could become the musician I wanted to become after reading all the magazines and listening and dancing to the latest tunes on the radio. I was hell bent on being a musician more than anything else in the world. My lifelong goal.
The real deal started when a friend of mine drummer Franklin Francis from the same Seventh Day Adventist church we attended told me he was putting together a band and if I wanted to play keyboard because he found out I was dabblying in the music and playing keys on my own. I learnt to play by purchasing a LEARN TO PLAY PIANO book and practiced till I knew the doh ray fah so la te doh back and front. This was my solace from mommy and daddys wrath. I was in love
I needed to learn more so I was introduced to one of the best keyboard player and teacher in town John White who took me in and taught me the rudiments of playing chords harmony and structure. I felt ready to PLAY SOME MUSIC
Fast forward to my first show in a band with some local older musicians in Toronto by the name of MIGHTY MYSTICS at the hippest West end club in town where we practiced 6 days a week for a year until we sounded like the record at times mistaken for it too, I learned a lot at the same time writing my own little pieces that no one took notice of because covers were the order of the day. We went on tour (big 10 piece band with equipment/sound engineer and the like) for 6 months to Montreal. Quebec and there I learned some big lessons of how this business is and what goes on in it.
After this first tour sting I started to work with and record for many artist of different genre in Canada and United States and this has enabled me to become master at creating grooves of different genre :dance pop, reggae, and Hip Hop
At the moment I’ve been busy writing and have over 1,000 poems and songs in my arsenal and fortunate to have written my first poetry book JOURNEY IN 2011 containing 94 poems which is semi-autobigrapical and bits and pieces can be found on YouTube and postings on my Facebook page. I can be heard on (expired link) .com on Saturdays on my show Poetic Revolution.
When I’m not being a wordsmith (always never) I can be found in my sign company which is as satisfying in creativity as the poetry and music making others known to the public domain.
My dream is to become as great and known as Babyface/Bob Marley/R. Kelly/Maya Angelou/Sly & Robbie rolled into one
Given this diverse background and skills I feel well suited for that to make my dream become reality in SEEMI the new and fast becoming the force
