About Pryceofpearlz
the Pryce of Pearlz
Growing up in Harlem instilled in Pryce a rich and diverse cross section of cultures one can only wish to know. His mom and sister being the foundation and inspiration of his life, Pryce drew his strength, knowledge, and passion from them. After graduating Park West high school he decided to enroll at The Culinary Institute of America studying the culinary arts and business management. Enjoying the food business but not being totally in love with it, Pryce left the food industry came home to Harlem. He tried his hand at modeling by appearing in a “Harlem Renaissance” shoot for GQ Magazine at the famous St. Nicks Pub and a shoot for Abercrombie & Fitch with the famous Bruce Weber. Music being his first love, he formed with his friends a Hip-Hop/R&B dance crew called “Soul Power”. Together they would perform every wednesday “Amateur Night” for The Apollo Theatre in Harlem tying for 1st place “Top Dawg”. This fueled Pryce’s creative spirit and it propelled him to pursue music writing and production. During a random selection of jury duty Pryce met a producer from East Harlem. They discovered one another’s affinity for music and vowed to make music together. On a visit to the studio Pryce met Pearlz.
Pearlz another Harlem native intense and eclectic, didn’t actually come into production until after he opted to not play college football his sport of choice at which he excelled while attending John F. Kennedy (expired link).. After graduating, Pearlz instantly became the man we know today. Answering his curiosity with intensity, Pearlz decided to peer into the world of acting. After earning a part in the HBO series OZ he knew that music was his first calling after all. Getting back to his roots he worked as a producer, engineer and camera man on a popular public access cable series. He also produced, wrote, sang and helped form the group Lost Survivaz. Determined, talented and motivated Pearlz pursued his music feverishly in his own cocoon. Acquiring his own recording/production equipment he pounded out beat after beat, song after song never taking his eyes off of his goals. For he knew what responsibilities were to come, as he progressed with his talents. Pearlz spent most of his time learning and honing his craft which led him to work later on with the likes of DMX, Avery Storm (Nelly’s artist at the time), Black Ivory and has worked with the legendary songwriter and producer Leroy Burgess.
