PSYKICK HOLIDAY are latest purveyors of the exciting music genre ‘Pop Noir’. (which has a Jazz/punk attitude, hypnotic grooves, classical ambience, sexy or gritty lyrics and a filmic feel) Cult English record producer Russell is the main driving force in the band as songwriter and producer. He does occasional lead vocals and plays Punk Cello and Koto mainly. IZA Joanna T is his currently the talented singer in the band.

The band is Russell's most recent incarnation into the world of Pop Noir music, following closely on the heels of previous pop band Box Office Poison.

HISTORY
The bands debut single via Itunes 'Sex on the Internet' was an experimental dance type track with controversial lyrics. It was recorded in 4 languages, English, French, Spanish and Russia. It was unusual to have the song in the latter language but this was because the lead singer 'Natasha' was Russian. However her involvement was short lived and she was sacked after that single for being unreliable.
Russell then joined forces with Japanese musician 'Pop' (who had worked with hit act The Yellow magic Orchestra) to write and record new material.
Next up was singer Pola from Poland, She had made a minor dent in her homeland as a singer but wanted to hit the big time in England. She was told she needed a top producer and met Russell and convinced him to let her join his band. As they needed a new lead singer he agreed.
Russell was also famous for producing great covers of James Bond tracks even getting a number one hit with his ex wife and pop star 'Eleanor Rigby' with the track 'You Only Live Twice'.
Polydor Records was interested in putting out an album of all his Bond covers so it seemed like a good idea to do a few new ones with his new band PSykick Holiday, to get them noticed. So they did 'A View to A Kill' & 'The James Bond theme' for the album 'The Themes Bond...James Bond'. The deal fell through with Polydor but it came out on Itunes through Indie record label 'Future Legend Records' who also signed the band.

Bond fans called 'A View To a Kill' one of the best Bond covers ever. This resulted in the track having 10 out of 10 for popularity on iTunes in the UK. Lead vocalist Pola, was pretty much using (expired link) as a stepping stone for a solo career and left do a solo deal with (expired link). She then went on to have solo top 3 hits in Greece & Poland and a put out a debut album before returning to obscurity and not making a big enough dent in the UK.
Enter Swedish award winning actress & singer Joanna T (Aka IZA) as the new lead vocalist.
A few other guest musician joined on Trumpet, Sax and Drums and a debut album 'Forever Pop Noir' was recorded for both CD and download release.(The CD can be acquired at Future Legend Records website & download is available at Itunes, Amazon and other good download sites.
Russell occasionally did lead vocals and it was too his surprise the track 'One way Ticket to the Moon' became the most populate track on the album and this was released as a double A single with the track 'Psychic Holiday', which he also sings lead on as a download single. Russell is often likened to Jim Morrison and David Bowie and it's interesting to note that he also comes from Brixton (London) like Bowie and they once shared the same management and both like each others work.
The sexy 'Come with Me' song featuring IZa is the current Itunes single and videos for many of albums tracks can be found on youtube (but remember the correct spelling 'Psykick Holiday')

The band so far only played one concert in London but hope to do more in 2017/18.
However Russell like Bowie is a multi-platform artist and does photography and produces other artists and is a published author. His debut book 'Music Business Bastards (How to do well in the music business without getting ripped off) is very popular.
He recently had a book out 'Voyeurs Welcome' of his iconic photos and all his song lyrics both released and unreleased.
He has a debut novel out on March 1st 2017 called 'Adventures of a Dark Duke; Pin' Which is very interesting and very raunchy (as you'd expect).
