About Quancheye Family

Born in the Bronx, Equan has been rapping for a long time. With music on the radio and doing exclusive shows, he has currently started his own record label. Equan always dreamt about rocking the microphone as a headliner at Madison Square Garden and Nassau Coliseum, but didn't want to be like other artists, who didn't know or understand the music business. In 1992, Equan was lead rapper for the rap group "(expired link). His first song on the radio "The Prominent Black Style" received New York airplay. New York's own Kid Capri and DJ Silver Dee showed loved by blasting Equan's music on WBLS. Equan went on to doing shows at nightclubs like The Muse, Homebass, and Club Esso's. Equan also did performances as a crowd pleaser at the Palladium, Philadelphia Music Conference, CJ's Sports Bar, Madison Square Garden and many more hot spots. At this time, he was learning the business by being behind the scenes with groups like Nice and Smooth and Gangstarr. Equan would bump into other great rap artist who taught him a lot about the music business like Dres from Blacksheep, KRS One, The Original Gucci Man, Vance Wright, Capone, Jay Z, Busta Rhymes, and many more who are not around today.
