I have often been asked how did you know you were going to learn the piano? I didn't know that once my hands touched the piano I would be hooked. My mom knew. My attraction to the sound of the piano and her gentle encouragement was all I needed. You see my parents were immigrants and my older sister and I were born in refugee camps in Germany. We are Serbian. Our neighbors in Indiana moved away and gave their heavy Gulbransen piano to my family. If they only knew what an impact that had on my life.
