Sad And Blue

Nice song

I like the melody and the chord progression. The vocal performance is good, both the lead and the harmonies. The background instruments are doing a good solid job. I always appreciate lyrics that are meaningful and convey the message in a slightly different way. I like these lyrics. I would also like to hear this song performed by the young lady that you mentioned. Although it is, as you said, a retro, classic country style of song, I think it has commercial potential today.

Jaunty song: not so sad

Sad and Blue, engages the listener immediately with a positive and enjoyable groove, incorporating a pleasant and inviting guitar motif. The song is easy to identify with, a real sing-along; it generally comes across as light-hearted. Perhaps, some sections could be sung solo, without the ever-present backing vocals. However, this tuneful number makes it's point and is pleasing musically. Well done!

Very nice, melodic and retro (in a positive way) with influences from the 50 s and 60 s, which I like a lot.. Soft, a little sad but romantic. You feel that the song is really meant for someone. Good work!

Sad Country-Ballad

A typical feature of great country music are direct lyrics. This one is about an aspiring young girl trying to become a country star. The wonderful played guitars carrying this nice composition and the keyboards in the backround bringing some more interest into the music. The singer has a unique voice and a soft vocal projection. The songtext comes from the heart and touches soul. Raymond T. Doyle wrote the song with Patsy Cline and arranged the music in mind as a retro sounding song. A really perfect studio recording. Overall a good composition of very talented musician. This song could be a radio hit and it´s an original. Listen to the music and I´m sure, you will like to add it. A sweet sounding track with all the smoothness of a well aged whiskey. This song doesn't follow a straight road though the changes are familiar with perfectly added blue notes that make it so unique. A toe tapper which has been recorded to a high standard and with great musicianship and subtlety. The track could benefit from a better drum part and some life in the bass but all in all it's a well crafted song.

Great sound and wonderful arrangement. I was disappointed as I listened because I wanted to hear a lead vocal during the verses. Sad and blue should be lonely and painful. By double tracking the vocal you lose that feeling. Try tightening the delay to about 30 Milasecs to thicken but hide the second track for the verses and reduce the reverb to bring vocals forward. As a listener I want to feel the singer's vulnerability putting them forward in the mix will help. Think ringo sweet sixteen or photograph as an example as example

nice song

Hi Raymond. Nice song ! Musically well done. Nice harmony in the voices. Cheerful. Really merseybeaty. Good Chordscheme. You really know how to change chords from major to minor and back which makes it melancholic and cheerful at the same time. The piano gives that rocknrolly twist to it. Just work out just a little bit more the compositions of yours, and I defintitely believe that you can write something that contains hitpotential. It should in any way be worthy of being played on the radio. Hey. Please check out my music and post me a review. Numberonemusic search: spiceypete Greetings and love from Pieter B., Ghent, Belgium

Hello, I review from the perspective of commercial viability. Can you place / pitch the song to an established artist? The other alternative would be from an artistic point of view...(You as an artist)...if that is the path chosen than you either like the it or you don't. Simple and straight forward production... song structure is good... melody is pleasing .. arrangement well thought out and executed. Nice job! The main drawback I'm feeling is the lack of prosody.. the lyrical content and the "feel of the music are not connecting and creating a whole overall vibe to the song. What does that mean?... the music feels happy... yet the lyrics are sad.... there by creating the disconnect. Roy Orbison is a terrific source of inspiration and as you know an amazing artist as well as a great songwriter.. If it were me I would re-visit his work paying close attention to how the music fits the lyrics and at the same time the lyrics become one with the music... "Crying" would be a great example of this. It's a good effort and you've obviously put in a lot of effort to get the song to this point.... Good work! Hope this helps in some way and Keep Writing! RW

Lyrics are ok

Nailed the retro sound! I can get a patsy vibe. Personally I think a song should tell a story there was just one verse and it was repeated but I guess they did that back in the Day! I would like to hear a woman version.

Sad and blue review

Hi Raymond , I've reviewed your song and I must say that you did a great job. I admit that this is not my favorite kind of music but I can apreciate the effort that you've put in . You've really nailed the old time feel and vibe of the Era. Cheers.

Sad And Blue (New Version)

Your song, Sad And Blue (New Version), has a nice intro. Well sang, and well recorded. The lyrics are good. It's very hard to compete in today's market, and to me it sounds as if it's ready to be pitched, if that's your intentions. Guy

Remniss and Enjoy the Lyrics and Tempo

Raymond Doyle takes the listener back in time with his new version of "Sad and Blue". The lyrics and vocals are awesome while the tempo takes you back in time. Beautiful song and one worth receiving a lot of air play. Regards, Steve at Country Roads in the Mountains.
