Introduction

REDLIZZARD are a Portuguese rock band, founded in Almada in 2008 by musicians with a common background on local bands. Founded by Patrick Elmer and Elvis Batista, REDLIZZARD had their debut EP released in 2011, 'In Your Face', and their first LP, 'The Red Album', released in April 2015. Strong guitar riffs, powerful rhythms and catchy songs - all this contributes to define REDLIZZARD's rock sound. Their songs and their live performances soon led them to some achievements, like performing as opening band for Bon Jovi in 2011 for an audience of over 56.000 people.

Origins

REDLIZZARD's live debut was on the 31st of January 2008, in their home town, Almada, Portugal. After that they played lots of live music bars and small festivals, mostly in Lisbon. In order to make their music reach a wider audience, REDLIZZARD started to play on several music contests, getting to win most of them.

The debut EP and the Bon Jovi opening act

REDLIZZARD started the year of 2011 going into the studio to record their first EP, entitled 'In Your Face'. In that year, they were chosen to be the opening act for Bon Jovi. This opportunity came up after winning a live performance in a music contest organised by Hard Rock Cafe and the most relevant national radio in Portugal, Radio Comercial - REDLIZZARD convinced the judges and the crowd in a sold out room. On the 31st of July 2011 they went on stage to perform live for over 56.000 people.

Later on in October they had a setback, their bass player David had to quit the band due to personal commitments. On the 17th of November 2011, REDLIZZARD announced a promotion tour for their 'In Your Face' EP, now with their recently joined bass player, Nuggy. This tour was extended for almost two years with many live performances and some of them in legendary venues like Aula Magna, Musicbox and Hard Rock Cafe.

Close to the end of 2011 the band was nominated for two awards on the Upper State Independent Awards in the USA and won both - Best Pop Rock Band and Best International Band.

The new record

During the year of 2013 they started to outline their first LP record and got in touch with the English producer 'Slaughter' Joe Foster who has in his resume bands like Jesus and Mary Chain, Primal Scream and My Bloody Valentine in order to take over the production of this new album. On the one hand, both the process of composing and arranging the new songs and the whole pre-production phase took more time than expected and, on the other hand, REDLIZZARD were still touring and encountering difficulties in establishing a bass player. The band finally manages to record and starts mixing on the second half of 2014 with João Martins Sela, a well known top Portuguese producer.

On the 5th of February 2015 the first single from The Red Abum is released, 'Reason To Live', now with REDLIZZARD's initial bass player David back in the band. The Red Album is now being showed on national television, radios and written press, and live performances will follow - 'The Red Tour 2015' is ON!
