Red Watterson and A Good Excuse

Looking forward to 2022 - folks are starting to congregate and "Live Acoustic Music" is once again, in demand. Wishing the "Best" to all who perform, write and sponsor "Live Music" Entertainment.

WOW, what a year for A Good Excuse! We have been celebrating with some of the best, in Central and South Texas. We're always amazed at the "down home" atmospheres we encounter, wherever we perform - call it Southern Hospitality, call it Good Manners we learned as children - but it's a reality!

Many new venues have integrated A Good Excuse into their "Live Music" schedule - and we've been delivering our repertoire of eclectic music - some original, but mostly our interpretation of songs that have meaning to the Patrons. We believe that "classic" music, like certain scents, bring past memories to the forefront - we always seem to remember where we were when that particular song was high on the charts.

Stay tuned in - we are scheduled for more Studio Time this Fall and plan to release more original music.

Hey there! We are starting out 2016 with multiple performances through Spring booked in South, South West and Central Texas.

As many of you may know, we lost Jazz guitarist extraordinaire Bill James in the month of December. Bill took ill suddenly and within a week, he was gone. I will miss my friend and music partner of many years.

Although Bill cannot be replaced, we have ween working with a very talented, jazz-trained guitarist from the Austin, TX area - Jay LeBlanc. Jay is native to Boston, but settled in the Austin area. Jay's jazz training is flavored with R&B & R&R licks he developed as a youth, working with his (drummer) father in the East Coast area.

When in the Houston, TX area, I sometimes work with my Rockin' friend, Tom Hays - who has been a favorite lead guitarist, vocalist and fixture in the R&B circuit for many years.

Jay, Joe & Red (that's me) will be in the Georgetown, TX area this weekend - Saturday night ( @ The Uptown Social Club) with a dynamic guest Blues Harp artist, Joe Frey.

Hey to all you listeners out there! Red Watterson & A Good Excuse is alive and well in Central Texas. Jay LeBlanc and I have been covering venues to the North, East and West of my home-base and Bill James and I have been covering venues to the South.

I'll be working with Bill James in Tomball, TX (just North of Houston) Saturday, 10 October 2015 - at Reno's Wine Cellar ((expired link)). Reno's is a quality venue, offering a full menu of freshly prepared entrees, a full selection of hand-picked foreign & domestic wines and "Top Shelf" ales and beer.

We will be bringing the best in live acoustic music with Jazz lead guitar accompaniment provided by Bill James. Hope to see you there.
