Richie Hoffman .. High on a mountain
Richie gives us an amazing track with power cords power keybords and great guitar work more like a rock opera track very dramatic and some freaky style changes so well done takes us on a journey with 1970s and 1990s real music.. the vocals grew on me as the track progresses I would pay to go and se this performed the more I hear it the more I want to use the word masterpieces thanks for painting so much in my mind great work

nice Ballad
This song is a really nice ballad, it has many parts as the music had in the 70, reminds on the who very great piano voicings and the singer isn´t bad too, I think the music too complex for the listeners today but this is not meant to be negative , keep on this work

Orchstral Rock
Too much effects on the vocals. The voice sounds like in a big cave. Composition: too many repetitions of the melody on the verse in the beginning. Arrangement: very good played, very creative, rich in variety. Reminds me on Jim Steinman's 80s productions.

Great Song
The song reminds me of the "concept album" type of songs that came out in the 70s by bands like the Who and Jethro Tull. The instruments are all played nicely, from the piano and drums to the lead solos. The song easily kept me engaged from the beginning to the end. The ending fit the song perfectly. I would have bought this back in the day. Great song and great musicianship.

Good song
Hi. I like your song. The instruments and your voice are great. It's great piano playing and it's a good electric guitar: They match greatly, together with your unique voice. Reminds me a bit of Roger Daltrey from The Who. The lyrics are intruiging: It's a mesmerizing subject ( Who wouldn't like to be high on a mountain ?). There's an original chord sequence: I like the break that evolves well into a cool and steady rythm. Concerning the composition: It's a bit strange because I seem to lack some red tape in the story... but this song is definitely worth another listening, just like " She climbs a vine". Well done.

High on this Song
For a song from 'early in his career' as stated by the writer, this is a well-crafted tune, with nice dynamics and arrangement. I'm not sure if he does all instruments, more has some capable friends/musicians to handle all that. It has aspects of an 'opus' in it that are quite admirable, and I have to say I enjoyed the listen and the dynamics - it was certainly taken to places I did not expect. Well done - thank you. D.

Settle in for this one
It may be long, but I really like this song. Love all the different instrumentation and movements of the song. Very cool vocal chorus and echo effects. Good melody and strong voice. Honestly one of my favorite songs on this site so far. If you’re into guitar solos, stick it out because this song gets jamming. Obviously very talented, and it’s got a good oldies sound to it. Keep up the good work! Can’t believe you wrote all this at 19

High on a Mountain
Really enjoyed the progression of this song. Beautiful, jazzy piano in the intro then the addition of the guitar - love the tone/effect!! Once the vocals kicked in, it reminded me of some of my favourite 60/70’s bands - Yes, Mike Olefield, Alan Parsons - great sound!! Towards the end, the rhythmic changes were reminiscent of Queens Bohemian Rhapsody - such a fantastic song!!! Really groovin’ in the track, it’s actually epic by the time you hit the last section. It’s like a symphony - different movements, interspersed with funky bass, syncopated drums and fantastic piano. Are you playing all these instruments? Thoroughly impressed, I’ll be subscribing. Thanks for sharing ????

Good Vibe
High On A Mountain gives off good vibes. Such a breath of fresh air. Yes a bit long but a great track for collections or greatest hits type of production. Keep up the good work and don't count this out. Check out Song tradr because they use these type songs for movie soundtracks. The beat produces smooth but synonymous melodic tones. Go for it! Your catalog maybe valuable.

Long,Awaited.
"High On A Mountain" is a lengthy, interesting song. It makes me think of the rock group,Boston, and perhaps some early Doobie Brothers. Also, the resounding melody, more than hints to the verse section of Eddie Money's,"Two Tickets To Paradise",which is cool. Musicians tend to draw from many influences. Though written when the artist was just 19,this tune shows songwriting prowess well beyond 19 years old. Long, awaited.

Unique Melodic Rock
Impressive alternative rock song make me remember of some great bands like Genesis in the 80ties in perfect orchestration. Great intro on piano and additional accompanying e-guitar is an extra factor and brings more interest into the music. Engaging drums and bass-lines also convincing me in this arrangement. Versatile transitions forcing the music constantly on a higher level. Richie Hoffman has a unique dynamic voice and great vocal projection making this wonderful composition complete. The lyrics sounds like a story and really touching. This song is definitely professional and very creative. All instruments are extremely good played and stand out. Overall good mixed and perfectly well arranged. Wonderful kind of old-school rock song because of length about eight minutes and symphonic arrangement. I´m sure you will likewise add. Let others know your recommendation.

I really really like it. Needs a little improvement of mixing but vocal in tune and nice voice. I can see that songs in The movie for sure. You should released when then written. Style of this is from 90’s but Taxi music take it all styles and era. I can hear that drums are life ? Yes? You change the rhyme often and is not enough singing in this for me, but I have a vision to place this song in the Tv film.

This is ... something.
Hi Richie, I really enjoyed listening to this song. While listening I was wondering about your age. You say you were 19 years old when you wrote this one. I hear a lot of influences dating from way back in time. That doesn't mean you're old, the song could very well be. The concept of being on a mountain and looking down on everything suggests thick, THC-packed, smokey air, a Zappa poster, cheap lemonade and fluffy couches. Also a sense of desperation. It's easy to fall off a cloudy mountain. Like you already revealed. It's way too long and way too complex to ever become a hit-single but why would you ever want to write a hit-single when you're on a mountain of your own. There's no glory in hitsingle-town. Enough metaphores. I wonder what kind of songs you write nowadays. Assuming you're no longer 19. However, nice lyrics, intense drumming, cool bass licks, tremendous piano and keys, nice guitar solo's. Very nice arrangement but...I already forgot the melody. Any melody. It doesn't stick at all. It has a time-machine thing about it. A high feel. A nice touch and that's it. I can't put my finger on the spot where it hit me because it didn't. It's like a whisper. Something you hear in some movie that makes you say: 'that's cool' and then it's gone. It passes. Thank you for writing it. Recording it and putting all the work in it. Although it sounds legendary, it won't yield fame I think. All of this is my personal opinion af course. Have fun.

In MY Opinion
Greetings, Thank you for choosing me to review your work, I count it an honor to be included in such a task. My hat is off to you and anyone willing to step out and share their gift, talent and love of music to the public. Be it a musician, singer, song writer, actor and so-on. I myself, via 40 some years of experience in the fields, on the road, in the studio, radio, TV, video, and management, consider myself to be a seasoned musician, singer, song writer, studio-sound tech/engineer/ owner/operator, stage manager, find it sometimes hard/difficult and perhaps not even fair to sit in a seat, voicing My Opinion concerning another's creative efforts. Especially in certain genres of music I am not all that familiar with concerning very important elements that make up and meet the required standards to justify the various levels of ratings and grades. So, in saying ALL that, I will limit myself to MY Opinion concerning the quality of the work according to My ears, and the standards I have been familiarized with thru-out the years. I hold to the old - saying " Beauty Is In The EAR of The Beholder ... LOL. The sound quality of the recording over-all is very crisp and bright and clear, I really enjoyed the message, vocals, piano, guitar, and energy in this song. Vocals are smooth and natural, sort of - down to earth as they say, and extremely peaceful. The mix levels let me know who was still in charge of this song. Very easy to sit back and listen to. I mean no offense in any part, I myself take all feedback and use it as a tool toward my next project. I pray you feel the same way. Either way, I say to you, keep doing what you do, keep kicking and enjoying what you do. I tell folks all the time for many years. When it stops being FUN, then it's time to stop, and stand back and think about what we are doing, why we are doing it, how we are doing it, what we and others are getting out it. Is it what we want, and how we want it. IF NOT. what are willing to do from there? Thank you again for asking MY OPINION. Johnny

High on a Mountain review
Let's talk about taking a trip down memory lane to a time when a song would take you through a multitude of levels in the artist's head (ie: Supertramp, Pink Floyd, Kansas & on and on...). It's refreshing to hear in a time when too much on the airwaves is canned to strict formats that you can anticipate every note. Thank you Richie for your contribution! You are right about it being too long for most radio but on an album, it is quite appropriate. Really enjoyed the entire song. Keep writing what you are doing on this tune and hopefully you can or have already enough to have a CD that has a theme. I'd love to hear where you should go on the next song or previous to this one here. Good luck and keep writing great songs!

Impressive sounds
An impressive series of sounds shows that you're a very professional artist, with your band too. The sound remembers the 60/70s rock ballads, with elements by the electromusic. I like your music.

Classic Retro Rock
With some rockin great guitar breaks in the second half of the song this is a long and winding road through the genre with all sorts of references to the greats such as Queen, John Miles,Chicago and Supertramp. The vocal style itself is full proof in conveying the romantic angst of our heroe and the production is spot on given the intricacies of the arrangement and the light and shade deployed at various points in the song. My instinct is that this is great work but perhaps the song could be a little shorter where some sections are repeated and could be in the singular.
