"The Desert"
Taken back to so many notable and powerful songs from my youth with this one. The powerful and very Real content, only makes it that much more appealing. But then I am and have always been a Realist by Nature. Artist should be commended for the effort and courage to share and promote understanding through truth. K.Hill

desert chimes
I Like the song as the piano comes in and the instruments announce themselves. Lyrics are telling and the harmonies are good The lead is constant and wondered if you could have less is more over the lyrics are heard and an instrumental break but it does work second half of the song. I like when the chopper comes in 2/3 into the song. In the mix i would have liked your voice forward a bit more. Film track stuff with the bits of synth coming in and out Thanks for telling the story. UK Vet.

great song
An interesting song. the flow of the melody brings the 70s. Great hooks. Studio sounds, maybe wrinkles are missing. The effects create an idea of the meaning of the "message" of the song. The era of strong music brings its own meaning in every way. a great song without the culmination of the end. But I liked the atmosphere.

Well crafted
Richie Hoffman has used a broad spectrum of instrumentation, and crafted his song well. I also enjoy the style of the song, remeniscant of the 70s classic progressive rock bands such as Yes, Cream, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Rush. He has a good command of what makes a song classic, and uses a nice piano motif, running into a classic guitar solo. All of the instruments played are done so with a professional well polished approach. If he is the one who has played every instrument, the song is very impressive. The timing, tuning, and playing are all top notch, the content, and style. Great dynamics and feel. It is the first time in a long time that I have done a review and genuinely like what I hear. Great job Richie, I am now a fan!

Nice Song great
Nice Song, begins slow. Its cool.

Extraordinary Indie Rock-Song
There's lot to say about this song, but I´ll brief anyway. Soft intro and very good played rock-guitar accompains the whole song including well orchestrated piano and keyboard sound. Original drums increasing this recording. Richie Hoffman´s unique vocals brings really feeling into the song. Ambitionated story about someone who served in the army with deep conclusions from the heart. The lyrics implementing compassion and make the meaning of the song engaging for me. Overall professinal mixed and mastered song where all instruments really stands out.

Just beginning.
You mention it's the only song you'll write about your time in Iraq. But I believe there's a lot more there, you just haven't quite unleashed it yet. You don't have to say that that's what another song you may write is about, but life lessons stay with you. The strength of this song shows that the impressions life has made on you are going to a very deep place within you that is a lot bigger than you have any idea, so yeah, I think you're just beginning. Great song, and thanks so much for your service.

Powerful
Hello Richie, I understand well the message of this song, my husband was a prior enlisted and Officer in the USAF and was in charge of security in Niger when tongo tongo happened. I'm italian so I'm not mother tongue but I struggled to understand all the lyrics thats why I would possibly take away some effects and make the voice more crisp because I understand the importance of the lyrics. I would also recheck the structure of the song a bit because after awhile it gets a bit lost. Overall great feeling and mood of this song. Greetings from Italy.

Powerful!
This song feels like I'm in the confusion and stress that war brings with the hope of a better day ahead. Having served but not deployed into a theatre of war, I can only imagine what the orders and activities of any given day would have felt like there. The lead guitar drives the wind in this story and its a powerfully emotional ride. I understand how you could only write one song on your experience of war; this paints a very clear picture. Thank You for serving and sharing your experiences in this wild wave of a soldiers world Richie.

The keyboard intro is a bit too long.. but when the piano, drums and guitar starts it's quite effective.. Nice lyrics even though the message is not "nice" . And the music fits the lyrics. Again.. I would love to hear this live.. It sounds like some skilled musicians

Good song
Hi mr Hoffman. I like your song. Your unique voice really comes out greatly this time. You get a good touch of what it must have been like over there... Good lyrics: Good that you proclaim the message of praying. A good morale is yet hard to find in too much music of nowadays. You have a good band: great instrumentation. The drums really sound amazing... It's well mixed: I like the sound of the helicopters throughout the song. It's a rather good composition, though I still think you can improve on that one: Try to condense your song structures a little bit. Anyway. You're definitely worthy of being played on the radio according to me man.

Excellent! Astounding piece of music! Reminds me of days long by, hazy days of youth. It has a feel of the unexpected and each beat promises more. Has a kind of old feel about it. I wanted th hear the next chord.

Another solid performance with nice effects
The introduction of the song brought back memories of "Yes" and the song went into "Richie Hoffman" mode. Richie has a unique sound and a way of telling his stories that are both enjoyable to listen to and easy to understand. Again, he added sound effects, this time, helicopters and "radio" sounds during the instrumental to help bring his song to life. If you enjoy the sounds of classic rock and are looking for new music, this is the artist to follow.

In My Opinion
Greetings, Thank you for choosing me to review your work, I count it an honor to be included in such a task. My hat is off to you and anyone willing to step out and share their gift, talent and love of music to the public. Be it a musician, singer, song writer, actor and so-on. I myself, via 40 some years of experience in the fields, on the road, in the studio, radio, TV, video, and management, consider myself to be a seasoned musician, singer, song writer, studio-sound tech/engineer/ owner/operator, stage manager, find it sometimes hard/difficult and perhaps not even fair to sit in a seat, voicing My Opinion concerning another's creative efforts. Especially in certain genres of music I am not all that familiar with concerning very important elements that make up and meet the required standards to justify the various levels of ratings and grades. So, in saying ALL that, I will limit myself to MY Opinion concerning the quality of the work according to My ears, and the standards I have been familiarized with thru-out the years. I hold to the old - saying " Beauty Is In The EAR of The Beholder ... LOL. The sound quality of the recording over-all is very crisp and bright and clear, I really enjoyed the message and energy in this song. Vocals are smooth and natural, sort of - down to earth as they say, and extremely peaceful. The mix levels let me know who was still in charge of this song. Very easy to sit back and listen to. I mean no offense in any part, I myself take all feedback and use it as a tool toward my next project. I pray you feel the same way. Either way, I say to you, keep doing what you do, keep kicking and enjoying what you do. I tell folks all the time for many years. When it stops being FUN, then it's time to stop, and stand back and think about what we are doing, why we are doing it, how we are doing it, what we and others are getting out it. Is it what we want, and how we want it. IF NOT. what are willing to do from there? Thank you again for asking MY OPINION. Johnny

Hard rock ballad
The sound of this long ballad remembers the Guns 'n Roses, a band which I like it very much, especially in the first part, more hard rock, while the second part is enough quiet and then it returns an electric guitar stronger. You sing few words, but the song seems ok so. Your sound is interesting.
