About RNG - Rich Nakatsu Group

I began my musical journey when I was 6 playing the violin throughout my childhood. When I turned on MTV for the first time, I remember Martha Quinn introducing the music video from Judas Priest, "You Got Another Thing Coming", the metal bug bit me, and I increasingly felt the desire to quit the violin and to join a band. Of course under the watchful eyes of my parents, that never happened.

I continued violin playing up to 1992 winning various state Solo competitions, I stopped abruptly when I bought a guitar as I entered college. I practiced 6hours a day using all my years of frustration of wanting to play guitar as my motivation. As I got to a point in my guitar playing where I was satisfied, I took a step back and thought, "Metal is just another genre, experiment others" As I matured in my playing, I went back to my roots in playing melody driven songs, such as I would do on the violin. Ideas of writing songs was suggested by a good friend of mine, and I haven't stopped writing since. If I were to look back and summarize what I learned, I explained it to my best friend, now my wife,

"Learn to sing through the instrument. Each note is another building block to a bigger story. Each variation is a book cover that beautify the story and enhance the sonic experience."
