Robby started playing guitar in the mid-sixties after hearing the Beatles sing “I Want to Hold Your Hand.” Being influenced strongly by the music of John Lennon, Stephen Stills, Ry Cooder, and Bill Frisell, Robby brings a taste of edgy Americana roots to the Quartet through his finger picking styles, rhythmic and dynamic grooves, experimental acoustic sounds, and story telling. He has found his musical niche in playing the reluctant front man in the Quartet.

The Robby Roberson's music are stories of fact, fiction, joy, and sorrow, all set against a backdrop of the various acoustic stringed and percussive instruments that are played with skill and passion. Robby’s songwriting and vocal style establish an organic, Americana music flavor that is enhanced by diverse and dynamic rhythms and grooves. His songwriting ability has brought him numerous honors such as: participant in the Tempe Center for the Arts Songwriter Showcase III, winner of the Songwriter Contest at the Tucson Folk Festival in 2013, and finalist in the band contest at the 2014 Pickin in the Pines Music Festival. Robby feels that the instrumentation is not only a means of accompaniment, but is an equal, interconnected partner of the songs. Robby Roberson is based the Tempe, Arizona and performs regularly at venues, festivals, and benefits throughout the state.
