Jazz Mafia and Tom Chavez co-present Rich Armstrong’s Life Pageant – an all-star multimedia concert and fundraiser will celebrate the life and musical legacy of beloved trumpeter, singer, multi-instrumentalist, and educator Rich Armstrong, whose untimely passing at age 55 on October 6, 2022 sent a shockwave through the Bay Area music community. Throughout his career, Armstrong performed and recorded with Boz Scaggs, Cold Blood, Tony! Toni! Toné!, Jazz Mafia, Thomas Dolby, Lyrics Born, Hothouse Flowers, Blue Moon Gypsies (which he co-led), and was most recently on an international tour with Groundation, and Roberta Donnay & the Prohibition Mob. Armstrong only released one recording under his own name, Rich’s Life Pageant, the namesake for this event. The evening will begin promptly at 6pm with a special brass procession leading into SFJAZZ’s Miner Auditorium.
