About Robert Bowen
Robert's musical influences comes from his childhood in Jamaica were he grew up listening to artists like: Dennis Brown, Bob Marley, Sugar Minott, Alton Ellis etc including all the early dancehall style rhythms and culture. So, it is natural for Robert's music to reflect all that he has learned. He writes and sings Cultural music and accredits himself to be a Spiritual Artist considering his lyrical content. He hopes to create or extend the bridges between what Reggae Music has become and what it can be; a source of encouragement
upliftment and fulfillment.
Robert was born in Montego Bay, St James, Jamaica, during a time according to history, when a certain Spiritual vibration prevailed. At the age of fourteen for family reasons, he migrated to Montreal, Quebec, Canada where he attended high school. It was during these early years in Canada that he bought his first drum set. He continued practicing for many years and being the natural and devoted leader he is, he eventually started his first band; "The One Love Band" .They, eventually started touring Quebec, Canada and the Caribbean, successfully backing and working with a variety of local and international artists.
Robert shortly there after discovered writing, which he did for local artists while continuing to play the drums. However, a time came when he felt he had to answer a deep inner urge to sing, which he has been doing for a few years now. His debut album titled "I Lights" is his first effort in manifesting and expressing through his newly discovered instrument. To the surprise of the artist, the single "Sunshine Girl" from the debut CD has been ranked #1 on the numbering music Reggae Char for few years and shows over 100K plays.
With this accomplished the artists says he is now ready to introduce his music to the world.
