Surprizing, pleasant, quirky

Interesting beginning of the song. Good production over all. Lyrics good to hear/understand. I like the sort-of fragmented way of playing, the arrangement. It has some 'world music'/celtic in it. It is rather 'pulling me in', with enough changes and surprizes. I thought/hoped to hear a bit more vocals though. All in all I had a pleasant listen and can't give much critique or advise (if any needed ;-)...) Cheers, wish you succes, Ronn van Etten

Almost There

Musically it works for me with rhythm and breaks. I'm having problems hearing the vocals which sound blurred and reverbed in the background. It would have been 4.5 as an instrumental or more clear vocal verses for me. Best of luck, Robert. I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Nice

Multi-layering throughout and you never know where it is going next. I like the creativity and unusual aspect as such compared with the usual and typical AABA format type songs. Good mix as well, keep up your efforts and best to you.

your song

Hi Robert, thank you so much for sending your song for review. I love the groove of the song, specially at the start of the song, I could add there some Afrocuban Rhythm, I am sure it goes well with your song. Well, The song is very well produced and composed, nice lyrics, those guitars sound great too, the drums are just great too, in fact, congratulations on such gret composition. Keep it up. An Appropriate Title

Well Robert where do I start? This is an interesting mash of pieces that sometimes work and sometimes not. I'm sure you're aware that there is quite a change in the mix when the second bridge (or whatever you want to call it) comes in about the middle of the song. That discrepancy will have to be fixed. Overall your playing (guitar, keys, percussion and bass is overall quite good but you need to make EQ separations of the instruments to keep them from clashing. Then there's the vocals.....doing a much better job on the vocals would help the song greatly. Funnily enough I give the song a 3 1/2...a good effort

Upside Down & Inside Out

Beautifully rendered, this song is very relaxing and seems to hit all the right notes for mellow in the body and soul. Lifts the Spirit somehow although it sounds melancholy it is re-energising. I loved the chord changes from Rock back to a bit of Celtic old style strings. Kind of a mix of all what I would call Celtic Rock. I loved the tubular bells or xylophone. Nice to hear such creativity in Rock circuit. I think you have some amazingly talented musicians. I wish I could hear the end of it. Where to find on your links?

Bop review

Alright let's jump right into it, nice intro filled with nice bass and drums it really fools me right off the bat. It felt like it was going one way but quickly turned into this jazzy section with Latin guitars and kool percussion sounds. Ce transitions into the verses, bridge, choruses.it really does have a new wave vibe going on.you can tell it was smartly throughout and time spent on it.love the bells towards the end. This song is cool and I really dug it.

Upside Out, Inside Down.

I really dig the guitar work, it has a nice eerie feeling to it as it was intended to for sure. However, I found the vocals to lack character and are very drab. I understand that not all prog or psych rock need to have elaborate meaning or tell some grand story, but if you are going to have a song with only 8 words in it, i think it best to use them and weave them in and out overlay them and make them dynamic. This here sounds like mumbling over a bar of music. And what is that a xylophone at the end of the piece? Seems out of place just coming in at the end? I have to give this a 2.5

Very interesting interacting musical textures.

There is really a lot going on here musically. Very interesting to hear the interacting melodies and textures of the acoustic guitar, electric guitar, piano and even vibes. The vocals were kind of sparse, but that worked well for the song I thought.

High standards

Rob ~ Upfront I'll say that because I've been fortunate to work with many of the best, that's the only standard I know. Your musicianship is certainly there, as is the thought put into the song's central idea, which does speak to me. It reminds me of Captain Beefheart, who you may or may not know. The trippy quality of the song also floats my boat, as do some of the percussion parts and sounds. That said, the arrangement and overall production don't work well for me, tho' I realize that others may enjoy the song just as is. A matter of taste. I'd have preferred it shorter, and with smoother flow in the texture between the different sections. Those seemed abrupt at times, but not in a way that made me sit up and go whoa! Lastly, I know you put (demo) next to the title, but there's no longer any such animal. At best, you might call it a sketch,, but in my experience, people these days only think in terms of a finished piece of work, because there;s so much out there. I admire the dedication of young musicians these days, because it's a cacophony out there. Much harder than when I started out, and it was hard enough then. All the best to you !

mind-altering experiences

Psychedelic rock is a diverse style of rock music inspired, influenced, or representative of psychedelic culture, which is centred on perception-altering hallucinogenic drugs. The music is intended to replicate and enhance the mind-altering experiences of psychedelic drugs, most notably LSD. Many psychedelic groups differ in style, and the label is often applied spuriously. Originating in the mid-1960s among British and American musicians, the sound of psychedelic rock invokes three core effects of LSD: depersonalization, dechronicization, and dynamization; all of which detach the user from reality.Musically, the effects may be represented via novelty studio tricks, electronic or non-Western instrumentation, disjunctive song structures, and extended instrumental segments. Some of the earlier 1960s psychedelic rock musicians were based in folk, jazz, and the blues, while others showcased an explicit Indian classical influence called "raga rock". In the 1960s, there existed two main variants of the genre: the whimsical British pop-psychedelia and the harder American West Coast acid rock. While "acid rock" is sometimes deployed interchangeably with the term "psychedelic rock", it also refers more specifically to the heavier and more extreme ends of the genre. The peak years of psychedelic rock were between 1967 and 1969, with milestone events including the 1967 Summer of Love and the 1969 Woodstock Rock Festival, becoming an international musical movement associated with a widespread counterculture before beginning a decline as changing attitudes, the loss of some key individuals and a back-to-basics movement, led surviving performers to move into new musical areas. The genre bridged the transition from early blues and folk-based rock to progressive rock and hard rock, and as a result contributed to the development of sub-genres such as heavy metal. Since the late 1970s it has been revived in various forms of neo-psychedelia. Psychedelic rock also had more aggressive and heavy approach called heavy psych. Heavier and more riff-based form of rock came from the mid-1960s psychedelic movement from bands like Blue Cheer and Sir Lord Baltimore that attempted to create a more intense form of psychedelic rock music. The tone is very distorted or fuzzy, and purposely dense and effect-laden for creating a thick atmosphere.

An Interesting Meld and Very Enjoyable...Robert Meloccaro's Upside Down and Inside Out It is like a multi-layered treat that with each bite new tastes and flavors lead you on a wonderful psychedelic journey. I love all the layers of music and the lyrics suit the mood. I would like more melodic vocals but not disappointed in the experience of your song. Keep on creating, love to hear more...
