I am so pleased to be able to tell you that there is some new and exciting music on its way! However, this year has been a very difficult and challenging one. In April 2022, whilst sitting at home I suffered a series of mini strokes or TIA’s, which needed hospital treatment and medical intervention. The symptoms lasted for about three weeks and I was confined to my home to rest. It took nearly six months to really recover to the point where the consultant signed me off as being fit. The road to recovery was a long and very hard one. I struggled with fatigue if I attempted to do too much, even playing the piano was impossible at first. I can fully sympathize with anyone who has suffered in this way, but I am extremely grateful for the fact that I made a full and complete recovery! I can now say that “I am a stroke survivor!” The really good news is that I am still able to compose and play all the music!

My plans for the music in the immediate future include … a Special Edition EP released in November 2022 on all digital platforms, which will feature the piano with a full orchestra on the following new versions of My Beloved, Eira’s Theme. and Lost in Wonder. Imagine the full orchestra behind each of these awesome tracks! Then in December 2022, I am releasing three brand new singles. Hallelujah, Praise God; Let Fire Fall; and Lament. These new track excerpts will eventually be included in my Number One Music playlists for you all to enjoy!

The most exciting news is that in January 2023, the final single in the series will be released, it is going to be called Driftwood. This is a completely new recording and is the title track to me third studio album. In the spring of 2023, I am going to be completing work on my new relaxing, soothing and calming album Driftwood, with ten completely new compositions! If you have every felt that the world is getting you down, that it is all getting too much for you, that all the news in the world is bad, that you want some relief from the stresses and strains of life, just to get away from it all. Then my next album is exactly what you need. An album that will take you on a journey and help you to forget all your worries and anxious thoughts. Totally soothing and calming music, that will change the atmosphere of your room, helping you to relax and reach the very depths of your soul. For those who find it difficult to sleep, this music will clear your mind and let you simply just drift away. Driftwood, a totally new concept in music relaxation! Music that is really worth listening to, calming your busy mind.
I cannot wait to share this new music with you. Some of the early recordings on the album helped me during my recovery period, so I know from first hand experience that they really do work. I am so proud of all the new music compositions, they reflect my giving nature as a person. I am pleased to say that Chris Mitchell has done a superb job orchestrating these beautiful new tracks. The music was created in the Clear Sky Studio in Reading, Berkshire, England. Please note that all my new music tracks will only be available digitally online!

I would like to wish all my listeners on Number One Music a very Happy Christmas and New Year. I hope and pray that the world can get back to some form of normality. I know that good music is a tonic for mental health, and I sincerely hope that my compositions can create a sense of calmness and comfort in a world that is being shaken from top to bottom. Thankfully, we are beginning to emerge out of the pandemic, but it seems that there is always something to replace the doom and gloom. Let us spread a bit of happiness and joy over the world. Recovering well from serious health issue in 2022, new exciting music now being released on all digital platforms!

A very Happy New Year to everyone! I hope that 2021 will be a much better year than 2020. I wish you every happiness, good health, safety and protection from the virus and all other illnesses. What a year we have all just experienced! Such a challenging time and for many an extremely worrying time on a worldwide scale!

I have never had such an incredible year, when I look back to review what I have gone through, I thank God that I have survived to tell the tale. Life for me has changed dramatically. Christmas 2019 I was recovering from a serious illness which resulted in me having a week in hospital and over six weeks off work. Thankfully, I made an excellent recovery and returned to work at the beginning of 2020. I was determined to face whatever came my way. However, nothing could have prepared any of us for what 2020 delivered! I had some time off from work in March to celebrate my birthday. However, before I could return to work at the day centre for physically disabled adults, I was told that at the end of March the centre had closed. I was transferred to a residential care home where I worked for a while. I really loved working in the care home and helping them out but was faced with some challenging issues, as two of my close working colleagues caught the COVID-19 virus and were off work for several weeks. I passed the doors of a few residents who also caught the virus. I was incredibly blessed to not to have caught the virus! Thank you, God!

Whilst at the care home I had the wonderful opportunity to play the piano to some of the lovely residents. I did several live outdoor socially distanced summer concerts of my music! I really enjoyed sharing my music with them in the warm sunshine!

However, in early July I sadly lost my job when I was made redundant, as the day centre was closed permanently after 17 years of working there. I was sad because I never got the opportunity to say goodbye to the service users at the centre. I decided to retire from working life and begin a new season in my life. I took six months to adjust to my new style of living which practically brought me to the end of the year! During this period there were numerous lockdown situations and restrictions in place.

I guess that my biggest news in 2020 was the release of my second studio album Edge of Time. It is my biggest and most challenging project to date! The release date was set just as the first lockdown began in the UK. I did not get to launch the new album as intended due to Government restrictions. I posted a small launch video on Facebook which did bring in some interest. However, it was disappointing that the opportunity to sell CD’s of the album was not realised. Due to differing levels of lockdown in the UK, it has been very difficult to sell any CD’s if I am honest. Many musicians and composers have found themselves in the same boat. But it will not always be like this, things will improve eventually and there will be light at the end of the tunnel. We must all be patient and wait for the vaccine to be distributed fairly!

The new multi genre album has 9 tracks and a bonus track at the end. There are two Jazz tracks, three piano and orchestra tracks and an orchestral suite to conclude the album. It is my most adventurous project to date. I am particularly proud of the orchestral suite which includes Armageddon, Comes A Mighty King and Edge of Time (the title track of the album). Of particular note is the last section of the suite which is split into two parts, Edge of Time Part 1 and River of Life / Edge of Time Part 11. The River of Life theme was composed when I was a teenager (around the age of 14) and has patiently waited 50 years to be finally published in this work. The concluding part of the suite was only possible with the technology available in the recording studio as the themes from Armageddon and Comes A Mighty King have a musical battle (representing good versus evil) and end up in a triumphant crescendo worthy of any epic film soundscape! I would love to hear the suite played by a full symphony orchestra one day, to really show its full potential. I can always dream!

My favourite track on the album has got to be “Only Time Will Tell.” This piano and orchestral track has such a beautiful melodic theme throughout the piece. After the trials of 2020 it really brought it home to me how precious and important every aspect of life is! We journey through all our days and only after many years can we see exactly what we have become. Only Time Will Tell who we are once the race is run! I understand that my music compositions are the result of what I have personally been through in my life! The feelings and emotions that I experienced are felt in the music.

I am grateful for Sheep Free Productions for allowing me to develop some of the themes that occur in the Pilot Miniseries Unbelievers (available on YouTube). The comedy drama has been described as The Screwtape Letters meets Terminator! Out of Time is based on the main theme from the show, in the version on the album it is given a piano and orchestra to enhance its jazzy flavour! All Jazzed Up is a live track and is given the Big Band treatment played by the Remix Jazz Orchestra led by Stuart Henderson. The haunting Samantha’s Theme see’s a return to the tried and tested formula that is already established as “my style of music!” The perfect blend of piano and orchestra. Relaxing, healing, soothing, and easy listening in style. Chill out at its best! Finally, we sit back and enjoy Shifting Sands another stunning piano composition with a light orchestral touch which takes us on another musical journey!

I have several people to thank for this new studio album. Production, Orchestration, and Musical Arrangements by the brilliant Chris Mitchell. He was also responsible for Recording, Mixing and Mastering. Recorded at Clear Sky Studio in Reading (UK) for Music Box Productions. The big band sound was provided by the 12-piece Remix Jazz Orchestra directed by Stuart Henderson. Other amazing musicians involved were Liz Smith on Cello and the wonderful Caroline Clack on Violin. Without these people the new album / CD would not have been possible. It proves that working collaboratively is extremely important when trying to produce the very best in music!

Not much live music was possible in 2020 due to the pandemic but I was involved with a Music For Healing event outside Reading Minster 24th September. I hope to be able to share my music a lot more in 2021. Once the vaccine has taken hold, I plan to be a lot more creative in my new season of retirement. Life will never be the same again but hopefully we will head for a new normal as the months slowly pass!

So the latest news for 2020 ....

So much has happened in the last few years to my music that I am so excited to tell you about! In 2014 I released my debut studio album "Eagle Mountain" which was recorded professionally at Clear Sky Studio in Reading UK. The nine track CD has over an hour of original piano music with orchestration by Chris Mitchell my producer and arranger. The album has sold copies all over the world and has been described by some as a masterpiece! Since then I have gone on to work on the music for a TV Pilot called "Unbelievers" made by Sheep Free Productions Ltd in the UK. The series is currently seeking a commission to be produced for main stream television. I am an executive producer and the principal composer for the pilot episode "Target Acquired." The soundtrack for this programme can be found on my sound cloud music page. The music for this project has been a totally new experience for me, I have been very blessed to have been given the opportunity to contribute to this wonderful new adventure in my life! The main title theme music for Unbelievers is called "Out of Time" a copy of which is attached free of charge and exclusively for my loyal fans! Enjoy the new music!

A very Happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. I hope that 2015 will be a truly amazing one for you! Thank you so much for your support and encouragement during link launch of my debut album "Eagle Mountain" in March has made it a very special year! I have been invited to perform at the UK Boston Music Festival (for unsigned artists) in 2015. This will be my first professional appearance, I will be performing in a variety of exciting venues and I am looking forward to sharing my music with a new audience. It all began by seeing if there was any interest or support for my music during a six month trial period on certain carefully selected music websites on the net. link and link provided the initial output but this quickly spread to other websites including youtube and my current music website which is link (see the link above). I received a huge number of comments about my music and how people were reacting to it from all over the world. These comments encouraged me to think seriously about the future of my music project. After three years I made the decision that I was going to take the compositions up to the next level and to see what would happen if I handed the music over to a professional musician and let them add full orchestration to the piano tracks. The result of this decision is my debut album “Eagle Mountain” which I am honoured to release into the world!

I planned the new recordings for the debut album in August 2013 then Chris Mitchell (Music Box Productions, Reading) and I recorded the nine piano tracks during September 2013. Next the editing stages came for the piano tracks and the work of professionally orchestrating each composition. Chris Mitchell did a superb job producing the wonderful orchestral tracks on the album. I am so pleased with the results that definitely take the music to a much higher level, I hope that new doors will be opened with these new recordings and the music will indeed reach the four corners of the globe. Exciting news to release, after three years of development I am about to release my debut album “Eagle Mountain” on 1st March 2014. I have been working with Chris Mitchell (Music Box Productions), a wonderful Christian professional musician from Reading (UK), who has produced, recorded the album and orchestrated all nine compositions. The new recordings have been designed to take the original music up to a much higher level. The sound of the piano has been taken from a Steinway piano sample by Synthogy and the orchestral samples are from EastWest Play. I am so grateful to receive such wonderful comments from all round the world; I really enjoy reading the reactions of many of my followers to the music that I have created. These numerous comments have definitely encouraged me to develop the music and to share it with the world. If the music on my websites has been getting such awesome comments, then the new recordings on the album version are going to “blow people’s socks off!” At last the album is in the final stages of production. I just can’t wait to see the reaction to the compositions. Matthew Colclough has very kindly been working on the artwork for the album; the reaction to this has been instantaneously, “Wow!” Everything therefore seems to be in place for the launch. The Downloads will hopefully be available after 1st March 2014 from link and the CD version of the album will be available for sale later in March 2014 (hopefully after 19th March 2014). I am also working with a number of people on collaborative projects. Melisa Barnett from the Oxford area is a lyricist, who invited me to compose some music for some of her beautiful lyrics. The song “Now that You’re Gone” was sent to me and I have written a melody for it, which Mel has fallen in love with. Billy Playle from London has kindly produced a strings track. The music has now been sent to Sagarika Deb in India, who will be recording the vocals for the song. The technology which makes all of this possible simply leaves me breathless! Hopefully, the song will eventually be released as a single in India and appear on Sagarika’s next album. Sag is a young musical entrepreneur, who has established the world’s first Internet girl band. Other people are now waiting in the side-lines, who have also sent their words in so that my music might be added to them. Sometimes I really have to pinch myself in order to believe it all. Life is getting quite exciting as my journey continues to unfold.
Of course one can have the most wonderful music in the world, however, if no one knows about it, then it simply could be the world’s best kept secret! That is where you, my friends, followers and fans come in. Please spread the word that my music has just taken on a whole new chapter, this is the next stage of its evolution. I have obviously invested a great deal of time, effort and capital in the “Eagle Mountain” album project, so I need to be able to sell as many as possible in order to break even after costs. Also if there is to be any further level of development or achievement with the music then there would have to be an enormous leap in the future involving massive investments by multinational companies and the use of a full live orchestra! Sadly this all costs Mega bucks! However, who knows what the future holds! Watch this space every-one!

An exciting new project, which has absolutely awesome potential, is one where I have been invited to help write a sci-fi television series using my drama skills. I am also being invited to compose the theme tune to the series! The outline plot for three series has been meticulously planned and the pilot episodce has been written. Sponsorship is being sought after to film the pilot episode and sometime during 2014 a cast and crew will be recruited! Once the pilot has been shot and edited, the production team will approach various television networks and producers, with a view to selling the series as a possible future project for national television. This is a bold venture, but one that really excites me! This is a real investment for the future! No other programme is similar in its theme, so the potential in a market where television companies are desperate to find new and original material is immense! Reality TV has had its day; people are demanding a different type of entertainment now!
I am so looking forward to the next few weeks and months as my original piano music compositions continue to develop and spread across the world. It really is a very exciting time for me. I am sure that there are many new adventures that lie ahead of me! Thank you so much for your continued support and encouragement, it means such a lot to me and I really do appreciate it!
