The seeds of Nick and The Healers were planted over 30 years ago when a singer, songwriter, guitar player from Marietta, GA [Nick Blackwell] met the former “Wild Cherry” bass player, singer, songwriter, from The Bronx, NY [Rob Tenney] at Metro Music in Atlanta back in the early 1980s. This began a friendship that has survived over 30 years. “We were always in contact over the years” says Rob, “but Nick was out providing for his family driving big rigs for Travis Tritt and Toby Keith and others, while I worked in music stores, played one nighters and put together “TenneyTunes Studio”. When health issues forced Nick off the road in 2009, we decided to record a 4-song demo because we realized we had never played the 1st note together. Well the magic was there from the word go. In fact the magic was so apparent that we decided to expand the project to a full album. We wanted a band “signature sound” so “I called the best players I knew”. “First I contacted Mike “Micky LUV” LeVasseur, an amazing keyboardist I had been working with in “The Boomers”.
