Great Pop Song

Helpful

This is a refreshingly good song that stands out in this site. Professional work all around. Perfect production of a catchy song with a great melody and strong vocals. Little guitar riff is perfectly mixed in to make it tasty but not take over the song. The song is straight and to the point while clocking in under 3 minutes - which is perfect as I play it again and again. Backing vocals are a great blend with the lead in the "Only You..." parts. Nice bridge and breakdown and then kick back in with the guitar riff again. It's nice that instead of some cliche bridge that one might expect, this mid section just works off what is already going on in the song to keep a continual flow of the groove. I look forward to hearing more from Ross Seddon, and based on this track I expect to hear some great music in the future!

Wonderful lyrics and a very special, unique vocal talent. Ross's voice grabbed my attention from the the first few words he sang! Listen and you will hear what I mean. These song lyrics took me away to a place of reverie of a time when I first fell in love. The rich instrumental, especially the percussion is superb musicianship in it's composition! I will be looking to see this in the top of The Pop Rock Chart.

It's got a slight country feel but then it's definitely contemporary pop. Probably the weakest part is the drum track, it's very thin and placed center, work hard on filling that out and meshing it with the bass. The backing steel guitar type sound is great, the vocals are good and very easy to hear. I did the little guitar pizz'es. You got that nice slight Brit Pop sound to the vocal. I'd work on the mix, think about ducking. Over all it's got a good groove and with a little polish to take it up a notch it's nice tune that should be out in the world. A little plug, contact Unlimited Power Records, they might be interested in this tune for sure because it's got an early 70's pop vibe.

Good sound, solid arrangement, simple catchy phrase, good quality playing, nice sounding voice, however there is a part where the guitar steps over the vocals. The song doesn't explode over the only you part like it should. Emotionally it should go higher a better bass line, better drum roll, maybe an acoustic guitar in those places in the middle of the song. The ending only you fade out is fine.

Wonderful Lovesong

Helpful

One typical feature of lovesongs are direct messages to the beloved, and this one is a great example for it. The wonderful played e-guitars carry this perfect composition and a soft acoustic guitar in the backround brings some more interest into this lovesong. The songtext comes from the heart and touches the soul. The drummer plays lovely and good pointed. This extra factor brings really power into the song. The refrain is lovely and makes the meaning of the song engaging for me. The melody of the song is what keeps the performance alright. Overall a very creative arrangement. This is a nice lovesong and it could be a radio hit. Listen to the music and I´m sure, you will like to add it. Let others know your recommendation.

Hi Ross. Nice song. Very cheerfull. Musically well done. Very sweet. The electric guitar is great. Good lyrics. Positive. The message of love is very clear. It's light, but I think it's honest. Seems like you really love that person; the person you wrote it for. The composition is good, in the sense that you repeat the refrain in the end. It would even be better if you had tried to put in somekind of elaborated break. I like elaborated compositions; they really tend the song to get stuck in your brain... But this is worthy of being played on the radio. Without any doubt. Hey I'm from Europe and my music is somewhat less easy to listen to, but please, if you would be so kind to listen to it and send me a review... Hello, Let me start by saying that I review in terms of commercial viability... can you pitch the song to an established artist..... the other alternative is from the artistic point of view (you as the artist) and then it's either like.... or not liked. This tune is well thought out from almost every aspect... nice melody... good prosody.. changes continue to move forward.... nicely defined sections .....a good overall arrangement..... Good work! The only real issue I have is with the drum track and sound... when you're competing against basically the world... every aspect has to be right. The drums felt awkward at times.. ( specifically the kick drum and the bass guitar synchronization felt messy to me). If it were me, I would listen to your favorite artists (you clearly have done this already) with a focus on the kick drum and bass guitar relationship. Also the sound of the drums felt weak in comparison to the rest of your tracks. Again really focus on the sonic character of the overall drum sound. Does the kick thump enough?... does the snare have enough smack? Are the overheads coming thru? You may already do this, but listen to your finished mix on a multitude of playback devices.... Studio... car... friends stereos... anyplace to try and determine the "correctness" of you mix. I hope these comments are somewhat helpful...... again nice work and keep writing! RW

A real pro mixed this, or someone who should turn professional if not. There is zero mud, that usual area of haze between the bass-kick and the rest of the mix. Every instrument and voice is pristine, and just the perfect amount of reverb in exactly the right places. Kudos in the composition, recording, and in mixing. Very professional job all around. I have to complain about something just because that's what I do. I would have liked a nice instrumental solo, the slide guitar sounded extra nice in the intro and I think that would have been perfect. But that's quibbling. While I disagree, I think those who only listen to the words would prefer to have the vocals a little bit more prominent in the mix; personally, I like it just the way it is and can hear the words and vocal melody — and quality — without effort. I can listen to anything in the mix without effort, and that's magic. I'll give a grammy to the engineer who did this. While my focus is on a little different type of music, the sheer quality of this production is something I strive for and fall short of so far. That's why I admire it so much because I understand the level of skill required to accomplish it. Every bit of every part reeks of quality and talent in its comfort zone. Competence is the key word.

Song with an enjoyable hook, storyline.

I think It's enjoyable when a songwriter has the confidence in the hook enough to let the drummer he or she's working with to go a bit outside of a normal beat. This song has that. I like the rolls and syncopation the drums is doing. A lot of folks wouldn't even notice that, but that's what ya want; for it not to be so noticeable or dominating in the song structure, just add to the groove, and this song pulls it off. Good work.
